What’s woke about this? I though gender was about what equipment you were born with not testosterone levels? You guys never make sense.

Nothing to see here. Let the Olympic Committee deal with it. #Harris2024

You guys are so weird about this. Please tell us what the president should be doing about Olympic womens boxing and non-American athletes that are all 'biological' women. Is the new conservative postion on women that if you have a vagina but fail a testosterone test once you are now a man?

None of the stories I've read said anything about these two boxers being born male. They've competed as women for years, but failed a DNA test last year.

Serious question: Do we know if they are intersex or are the details confidential?

Doesn't say. The IBA said their tests showed XY chromosomes. No one has mentioned that they are or might be transsexuals. (I mean other than the usual twitter stuff.)
The IOC had banned the IBA from being involved in the Olympics for other reasons.

Boxers bring issue of Olympics gender testing to surface

I guess if you are sufficiently internet brained you could choose to believe that Algeria is a progressive woke nation and fully committed to ending gender as a concept by elevating trans athletes

Footage of Imane Khelif being beaten by female boxer in 2022 Women's World Championship Final resurfaces as former opponent Amy Broadhurst weighs in on gender Olympic controversy
It comes after Broadhurst gave her views on the situation yesterday ahead of the controversial fight. 'Have a lot of people texting me over Imane Khelif,' she said. 'Personally I don't think she has done anything to "cheat".
'I thinks it’s the way she was born and that's out of her control.

Some of these intersex woman who were banned from sports were born with vaginas, always raised as female, and have gone on to birth children… it’s not always clear.

    Bottom of a pint glass
In light of the White House sending out an AI image of Trump as the Pope, I thought if would be a good time to re-examine the outrage over the "last supper" depiction in the Olympics.

Yeah, I've posted this many times, but over and over again, these people prove consistently they don't have any actual scruples other than bigotry. That anyone takes their complaints seriously is either a moral failing on their part or just being tricked again by the wallet inspector. Like you are either stupid or sympathize with their bigotry.

IDK, both are in extremely poor taste. Trump should have handlers that realize this is a bad move (or maybe he doesn't) and the olympic committee should have realized the same. I'm not even sure what the last supper has to do with the olympics.

I know there's a thread from yesterday alleging that liberals celebrate illegal immigrants raping corpses, but how dare you drag down the tone of this forum by reviving an old thread.

    How dare you...

You can take or leave someone's creative interpretation of a work of art, but at least there was thought and creativity to it. Its sad that some will equivocate AI generated slop only intended to troll with something that actually took time, thought and effort to put into being. Perhaps taste is dead if people are going to "both sides" this. Sad state of affairs for the arts in general.

Creativity and creative ideas are by design intended to illicit a response. That includes NFT's and AI generated items (since it's the idea that is creative not the actual work) and it also includes countless other controversial works of art, books and movies. There are even buildings designed to ruffle people's feathers like the Bilbao.
The intent is to illicit a response and everyone is going to have a different one, I just happen to think that both of these works are in poor taste but there are other controversial works of art that I do like. I remember a photo taken of a crucifix placed in a jar of urine. The lighting on it was very interesting and didn't bother me, can't remember the artist.

I cant put AI on that level. Someone just typed something into a computer after hearing Trump say he should be pope. Like at least that guy who makes that shitty conservative artwork with Obama shredding the constitution and the founding fathers crying did the work. Its garbage, but at least there is some humanity in it. Like if someone had taken the time to paint Trump as the Pope, at least there is something to consider, that someone took the time and effort to do that.

My issue with both of these examples is that they are superficial one-liners. Trump's goes no deeper than "look, I could be the pope" and the olympic one goes no deeper than "look, we can offend christians with the LGBT community". Art or creativity for me has to go a little deeper, effort or no effort like the urine crucifix I pointed out above but there are many other examples of sophisticated works involving the LGBT or religious communities. Robert Mapplethorpe's work comes to mind.

I think if you pick apart a lot of art you could say the same thing, Jackson Pollock is just splatters on a canvas, or Mapplethorpe is just pictures of leather fetish stuff, Warhol is just paintings of soup cans, etc. Authenticity is what makes art ... AI is the opposite of that (its literally trained by absorbing authentic works of art - its big old theft machine). At best its no different than putting a reprint of Mona Lisa on your wall. Everyone knows its not the real thing. Its just something to look at.
