So what’s the play here pitching wise for tomorrow? Got 6 1/3 and the 7 innings to get through. Does it matter if we have Liam finish this game out or start the third one? Do we see pierce on a limited (30 pitches?) count? Got to think anyone who went Friday is available for some work with Jake being the one most limited pc wise. Maybe start Jackson? Interested in everyone’s thoughts.
Policy won't apply because next week is a break from UF classes. "The policy specifies if the visiting team's institution does not have classes the following day (Monday), general curfew policies shall be waived. If the curfew is waived, no game may start after 10 p.m. local time or resume after midnight local time." https://www.ncaa.com/news/baseball/article/2023-02-15/sec-implement-new-rules-2023-baseball-season
Thanks. The ESPN app on Roku still says "in a rain delay." I was going to post this. And yes, I am still posting it, even though it is obsolete.
I say have Liam pitch in game 2 and maybe try to pitch 6 1/3 to finish it. We have a one run lead and whoever pitches game 2 will be inheriting a runner on second base. I trust Liam in that spot more than anyone else. Besides, if we decide to make game 2 our bullpen game then that puts a lot more pressure on Liam to pitch 7 innings and finish the series. The only caveat would be if Pierce is available for a game 3 start they would have to predict his start time probably before game 2 is even over in order to figure out his warmup routine. He’d be pitching in the bottom of the 1st too so who knows how long/short the top half of the inning will be. But hey maybe I’m overestimating just how accurately they need to predict Pierce’s warmup routine.
Gotta secure the series victory before anything else and gotta throw Liam to get that. Game 1 Liam- Jackson- Barlow. Liam gotta give us 4-5. Coppola-McNellie- McDonald- Jake in game 2.
I think if we have a small late lead in Sunday's first game, Clemente will be brought in to save it. Got to take a win when you have the chance. We at least have to split today because winning a game in Austin next weekend is going to be tough.
Some have suggested that if we win game 2 and the series, Liam sits out the weekend. I don't believe that will be the strategy given that King should be ready to start game 1 at Texas Thursday after a limited pitch count Saturday. I would start Liam in the first game today with the lead and hope to get him close to the finish line.
