TALLAHASSEE — Attorney General James Uthmeier says he will not tell state law enforcement agencies to obey a federal court order halting immigration arrests under a new state law even as the judge who issued the order threatens to hold him in contempt of court.

In a statement issued to Fox News on Friday, Uthmeier said that he disagrees with a federal court ruling prohibiting all state law enforcement officials and police agencies from arresting immigrants who enter the U.S. illegally and then come into the state of Florida. He also said he does not believe an attorney general should be held in contempt of court for what he says is “respecting the rule of law.”

“We believe the court has overstepped and lacks jurisdiction here, and I will not tell law enforcement to stop fulfilling their constitutional duties,” Uthmeier told Fox News.

What we have here is someone that feels that a Federal immigration judge, representing the Executive branch is wrong thus should be ignored. Sound familiar?

So then Florida AG’s position is “I respect the rule of law, and therefore will not obey laws I don’t like”….

There is LITERALLY not one judge that represents the Executive Branch of government. They represent the Judicial Branch. But this District Federal Judge is wrong.

Tell me why you think that a District Federal Judge can issue such a nationally sweeping order?

Immigration judges are a part of the executive branch. That is not up for debate.

Also, you may not realize it but there is a path for defendants and plaintiffs to take when they feel that a judge is wrong. Do you think that path is to ignore the ruling or to file an appeal?
