Went to bed down 3-0. Woke up and went through the game thread without looking at the final score. Great comeback. I always enjoy the commentary and GatorGal’s score keeping. Thx to those who stayed up till the end.

Big one today. Looks like 4:00 game time.
Hope King can keep going with one of the best freshman years we have seen in a while. His 4-2 record and 3.47 era are beyond impressive and that’s not considering a recent start in which he didn’t get much defensive help.

Great to have Ty's bat back. Stay hot young man. Clemente has been a difference maker.

My take on why Clemente is great as our "closer" even though he is pitching more like a set-up man that doesn't need a closer.

Pitching as a closer you can get by with one great pitch that you can move around with command. Most great MLB closers had total command of the fastballs (two and four seamers). Closers when properly employed pitch to 1 to 3 batters and you don't pitch to them again.

Set-up men might pitch multiple innings and might see a batter a second time. They need to have a secondary pitch to mix things up.

Starters need at least three pitches to be effective going through at least parts of the line-up three times. You can't pitch to a good hitter the same way over and over.

Maybe Clemente is that guy that has a killer pitch and a serviceable secondary pitch. That is all he needs for his role out of the pen.
