Ran across this article and it seems kind of crazy. The stroke, not taking his meds, frequent medical bouts, conspiracy theories and paranoia, more missed votes than any other senator, excessive consternation over how to vote, speeding and crashing causing his wife to break her back, etc. It’s an interesting dichotomy of someone that probably understands the current political environment better than anyone but simultaneously doesn’t appear fit to serve. Post stroke dimentia turned him into a dangerous self-destructive asshole with some simplistic MAGA tendencies? That sort of lines up! I’m guessing, in addition to lost verbal understanding and the frustration that comes from that (certainly a strain on mental health), most likely the stroke damaged his brain’s inhibition ability. Sometimes a similar phenomenon happens to elderly Alzheimer’s folks who start yelling crazy racist stuff at their nurses. In a way it’s probably revealing their true selves.
