4 Oregon HS girls refuse to compete against male athlete who is dominating girls' track and field

I'm generally a "lib" you Trumpers want to "own", but at this point I'm OK with either of two options: (1) we don't have gender split in sport at all. So all elite athletes are men.. well, women, them's the breaks. (2) we have a "cis-women" division that we admit is less-than (somewhere between "Real Olympics" and "Special Olympics") and an open division that is man-dominated.

I enjoy watching the USWNT beating the snot out of most opponents so I'd rather #2, but not a hill I'm willing to die on. Frankly tired of LGBT+ (especially T+) rights being centered on sportsball -- and I openly say that on a sports-baed website.

I care that Alexis (a woman, AMAB and named Alex) gets treated with dignity and respect in her life and career as an engineer or psychologist or whatever she chooses... I'm not tremendously concerned if she gets to play on the women's field hockey team.

 

Not going to click on The Blaze, but at face value this article would appear to point out yet another failure by the Trump. Wasn't he supposed to rid us of this onerous injustice? Perhaps even on Day 1?

Why has he failed at this so completely?

Men do NOT belong in woman's sports... And they think of themselves as the Party of science? What a joke.

 

"Male" vs. "women"... asymmetry! So you support special rights for women (sports ball teams, locker room access)? What do men get of equal value in exchange?

(I'm openly on team "equality", not team "equity".)

 

To be fair, there definitely are times when it's OK for a man to be in the women's locker room, correct? Such as when he has a lot of money, maybe?

Tasha Dixon, Miss Arizona 2001, told CBS 2 Los Angeles that Trump — now the GOP presidential nominee — just came “waltzing in” while contestants were nude or half-nude as they changed into bikinis. Separately, Buzzfeed reported Wednesday that four women in the 1997 Miss Teen USA beauty pageant said he walked into their dressing room while they were changing. Some were as young as 15, Buzzfeed said.

While this isn’t on my list of top 20 issues I think advocating for biological males in women’s sports is a ridiculous stance and is a toxic issue for Democrats. They need to move on from this.

 

Agree. So many other issues that impact so many. I never hear this brought up outside of these one-offs. James Carville was recently asked about this, he rolled his eyes and changed the subject to something impacting more people or more critical for our country. Yes, it’s a divisive issue - but dems allow themselves to get tattooed with it and it hurts them in elections. (Btw, put me down as they shouldn’t compete with biological women)

 

We allow the states to regulate a woman's body, but we can't allow states to regulate women's sport? The right could not be more disingenuous on federal overreach. Women should compete against women in women's sports but the definition of all that should be left to the state/competitive body decisions. This is not a federal issue.

If anyone thought Republicans and conservatives were motivated by the integrity of women's sports and would stop there, I will need you to hand over your wallet, as I'm the wallet inspector, and I will need to check your wallet to see if it is order.

 

The govt has no business in regulation of how you can compete or participate in certain activities based on sex.

I love how the right likes to always bring up the creep in the women's locker room. Why do we need a locker room in the 21st century? I certainly don't want to get bare ass nude in front of other people, even if they are same sex. Ever heard of gay? Not sure why we ever thought it was acceptable for 15 year olds to strip in front of each other....

The Left decided to plant their flag on the LBG hill not realizing the TAP, etc. group would want to join them as there are strength in numbers. It wasn't hard for anyone paying attention to realize that was going to happen. This issue is a ridiculous by-product, but they're stuck with it now. The LBG's should have put their foot down up front and said we're not backing this.
