First known recorded usage of "woke"

    I just finished a 7.5 hour podcast on the Beach Boys' song, Never Learn not to Love. The song is about 2.5mins. It spent hours on Huddie Ledbetter (Leadbelly - he disliked that name). According to the pod, this is the first recording of someone using the word "woke". It occurs at about the 4:28 mark.

    Yeah, I agree. I listened to the record and it sounds like “stay woke, keep your eyes open”, so the quote is way off.
