Florida launches criminal investigation into Andrew Tate

Florida has launched a criminal investigation into Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan after the influencers fled to the state from Romania. Jason Uthmeier, Florida’s attorney general, said he instructed his office to conduct a “preliminary inquiry” into the Tate brothers last week.

Based on “a thorough review of the evidence” Mr Uthmeier announced on Tuesday a criminal investigation into the Tate brothers had been launched. He ordered the statewide prosecution office to issue subpoenas and execute search warrants in relation to the case.

“These guys have themselves publicly admitted to participating in what very much appears to be soliciting, trafficking, preying upon women around the world,” Mr Uthmeier told a press conference.

“Many of these victims coming forward, some of them minors, people can spin or defend however they want but in Florida, this type of behaviour is viewed as atrocious. We’re not going to accept it.”

Influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate have been charged with rape and other serious offenses, British prosecutors announced Wednesday.

Andrew Tate, 38, is accused of crimes involving three women, including rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking, and controlling prostitution for financial gain.

His brother, Tristan Tate, 36, faces similar charges related to one woman, including rape, human trafficking, and actual bodily harm.

The charges were filed by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for England and Wales on Thursday. Newsweek reached out for comment via email outside of its normal working hours.
