It's almost impossible to be educated when it comes to "health care". I mean, even if you go to "in network" hospital, you can end up getting bills from multiple groups involved. A bill from the hospital itself, doctors, any specialists, pharmacy, and even companies that supply the equipment. Then you learn that some of them are out of network, and you owe more than you normally would. That's something that should be addressed by legal reform. If you go to an in network hospital, you get one bill ... let the hospital sort out who gets what from the insurance negotiated rate ...

Yes, our govt that ruins everything it touches should have complete control over your healthcare...let that sink in.

Well, you say the government ruins everything it touches but Tricare has been pretty awesome for me and my peers.

Our current system isn't working. Not sure what the answer is, but it sure as hell isn't what we are doing now.

Medical billing itself is a massive money making industry. An urgent care I worked for years back was owned by a physician group. It was a drop in the bucket for them as they made their main money owning a medical billing company. Looked them up just now and their revenue was over $2 billion a year.

I can agree with a lot of this. At the same time there are two big issues in healthcare that most do not want to honestly address.

One is those who abuse their bodies and the consequences of doing so.

The other is end of life care.

These are the two largest drivers of cost in healthcare that can be addressed. At the same time they are very touchy issues. And I get it. But to address the issue we have to have the tough conversations that come with it…

This is one of the major misconceptions. We are the most unhealthy country in the world with a mindset of fix the problem when it happens rather than be proactive.

The healthcare in America is off the charts amazing if you look at reality. Now unfortunately many take full advantage of that reality!

It is off the charts with emergency care, but clearly not that amazing since we have one of the worst lifespans compared to most other developed countries. That is not even looking at healthspan which is probably also better in most other countries.

I'm not saying socialized medicine is the answer, but our healthcare system could do a lot better.

    .
Conservative politicians are not interested in having a conversation. If you notice they never talk about it.

It could absolutely do better. But that comes with being proactive instead of reactive.

The fact our lifespans are what they are considering our health…shows how amazing our healthcare actually is!

If you think this is a one party problem…

You are part of the problem…

So, you are good being in last place? And again, that is lifespans, not healthspans.

You shouldn't have to caveat with "considering our health". Part of a good health system should be a much stronger emphasis on preventative health.
Being barely kept alive for 20 years in an assisted living doesn't appeal to me.

All you did was whine about the political party you do not like. There is nothing to prove wrong.
