1 game at a time. Great job by Keagan. Clutch hit from Kistler to put us ahead. Not the dominat game we wanted, but they ground out a tough win, which is good to be able to do.
Not our best outing, but got the job done. I didn't want to jinx it but I think we got a really good draw with Baylor since they don't hit many HRs. Keagan's kryptonite this season is probably giving up the long ball. Let's take care of business tomorrow and anything can happen in OKC.
50th win of the year for Florida for only the 11th time in program history. This team is becoming specialer and specialer.
The flip side is that junk ball pitchers have historically given us fits. So getting the win today was a big deal, hopefully going through the lineup three times on her today helps us tomorrow.
Nice to get the win in the early game. We can now happily sit back and watch a ton of softball for the rest of the day.
was expecting 8-4 uf, but a workman like 4-2 got the job done. i did agree with announcer when she said the gators shoud have been sitting on off speed strikes.
With today's win, our wonderful ladies are now tied with UCLA for the longest current winning streak in the nation at 12 games.
baylor has 2 good pitchers. knowing uf has seen hamburger today, baylor could serve chicken tomorrow.
With the exception of the first inning, the top of our lineup (Falby) always came to bat with two outs on the board and runners on base today. Not the best for her style of hitting. For those of you who know SB strategy....what's the deal when there is a rundown between 3B and Home, with a trailing runner. Today was the second game where we have had two runners converging on 3B (from different directions!). If you were the coach, do you start Rothrock again tomorrow or Brown? Rothrock demonstrated at the SEC Tournament that she's fine with multiple days in a row, but she looked sort of tentative today, at least at the start. OTOH, she finished strong and is a total stud.
Over and over, the Baylor pitcher threw 2-3 off-speed pitches per at bat. I cannot fathom why we did not just sit on them and ignore her other pitches. I call that on Aric and Francesca as well as the players.
I would guess he rides Rothrock, but I would start Ava personally.....don't like the thought of losing with Keegan in the circle tomorrow and knowing they have seen her twice with a game 3 pending. The counter argument would be if Ava struggles do you give them life when you have them on the edge. On the baserunning, UF looks to be trying to force the defense to make a mistake. Make them execute what can be a difficult situation with Skyler on the basepath applying pressure. UF essentially assuming they have an out at first if the runners hold, so send both runners and the worst scenario is first and third with an out recorded.....which is what happened.
If one runner is effectively caught, the other might as well move up. If they both end up on the same bag and both tagged, the trailing runner is out. I start Keagan. No if ands or butts.
I kinda thought that might be the situation with fewer than two outs. But then it seems that the lead runner should always double back again and head home. At least that way you might get an obstruction call.
