I never said that government spending isn't inflationary. I simply said what is causing inflation now, which is not a check from 2021. You are talking about people having too much money as being inflationary. Why do people have too much money in 2024? Government checks stopped years ago. If they have more money now it is due to higher wages or investment income.

So, you do not believe that the severe lockdowns in China, effectively shuttering the world's manufacturing hub as well as the largest global source of things like steel and electronic components, did not lead to inflation? Now, if the assertion is that the fiscal policy of western countries as a result of those events greatly extended and perpetuated the period of high inflation, then that would be different in my opinion. I always get a laugh out of the Trumpy "glabalism = very very bad" sentiment and comments. They're usually posted using a phone or technology made affordable due to major labor, manufacturing or materials sourcing from other countries. And frequently followed by posts such as "Help me decide on my next SUV - I'm leaning towards a Toyota or BMW." But we know by know that this group just needs an interchangeable supply of evil boogeymen to be angry at, in order to require an authoritarian criminal to take charge.
