I think what happened is places overreacted to hot spots and didnt react in real time to their real current issue. It was almost like some hospitals didn't want to be left out.

Of course since the Novant Health crime family took over all of our hospitals here it has been a crap show

I voted for Haley in the primary. If Trump is on the ballot in November, I will vote for whoever has the best chance of beating him.

New definition of a "good" moral Republican. Someone who publicly supports the roundup of nonconformists under the new Order but does so with strongly felt private reservations. Also states under their breath that they still worship only God even while loudly reciting the new Trump creed.

DHS does not need Congress to set a wide range of immigration policy.

A lot of how they act is discretionary based on the current administration.

And the truth is Trump did a lot more to secure the border than Biden. Anybody who doesn’t agree with that is simply not worth talking to.

    Hailey is a classic politician.

But I like her and I think she’s predictable enough that i saw her support for Trump coming from a mile away.

I knew she would when the dust settled.

    Democrats don’t understand this point.

Trump was anchored in his administration far more frequently and effectively than Biden.

Biden’s worst tendencies are enabled by his administration.

And that needs to be a critical factor in weighing your preferences. There’s a reason a lot of Trump supporters don’t worry so much about what he says (even though it matters). Most of it won’t stick, at least not exactly as he’s pitching it.

Trump did less on the border than the recent proposed legislation would have done, which he instructed his minions to sink.

Anybody that thinks Trump knew or cared enough about the border to actually do anything about is simply not worth talking to. Trump didn't even propose meaningful legislation when he had the best opportunity (congressional majorities) his side had, and is likely to have, in perhaps decades.

Why didn't he come up with meaningful legislation? Probably because he doesn't know anything about it, besides that it's a good issue for riling up rubes in an election. "Herrrr - build a wall!! Mexico will pay!!"

Why didn't he appoint someone to come up with meaningful legislation? Probably because he doesn't actually care about the issue, any more than he cares about any issue other than whether it will line his pockets and does Putin approve. Also, he didn't want to lose an issue to campaign on.

It's fun to see people defend their con man, the con itself, and try to rationalize it.

    Also;

LOL. Talk about not worthy of talking to.

Is that the same Trump who promised that he would build a border wall and that Mexico would pay for it?

I remember early on during the “shutdown” a bunch of chuds were driving around touring hospitals, posting “the truth” to YouTube about how empty hospitals were. Didn’t take long for this to evolve (or devolve) into the conspiracies of a “fake pandemic”.

Other than the areas that were early hotspots, “no shit” most other hospitals would still be quiet. That was pretty much the intent of the shutdowns… to at least kick the can down the road. But as you say, many places had their “wave” at a different time.

The difference is Biden has been exposed to these issues for 40 years so he already has some insight and opinion on them. Whether you agree or disagree with his views are another matter.

Trump really has no clue on any of these issues. His first administration he did have some competent advisors in st least most of the major cabinet positions and even chief of staff. But pretty much all of them were fired or quit and now say he was an incompetent idiot.

There is every reason to think in a 2nd term he appoints a bunch of sycophants that try to implement every hare brained idea that he has. I see a second Trump term as far more dangerous than the first.

Yeah, definitely. Anthony Scaramucci, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner really crushed it*.......

    * It being serving the WH for 10 days, and monetizing our foreign policy to sell it to Saudi Arabia for $2 billion, respectively.

So when all the competent advisors from term 1 are calling Trump and incompetent idiot - what makes you think Trump is going to hire competent advisors in term 2, and what makes you think a competent advisor will work for him?

Again pretty much all of his advisors, that he selected said Trump is incompetent. Do you think they ALL are wrong?

as far as i know Biden’s advisors are competent. You just don’t like the policy. So you created a scenario that you’d take an incompetent president with incompetent advisors because you don’t like the policies of the alternative.

Because there was no point in Trump's first term where his quality dramatically dipped.

There was tons of turnover his administration, yet my opinion and the opinion of most of his supporters remained unchanged.

His primary base has been rock solid for a long time.

With respect to Biden, there is a point where the policy is bad enough that the advisors are for all intents and purposes no longer competent.

I don't think I'm going out on much of a limb in saying that Trump's 2nd term Administration would be better than the cluster-you-know-what we're seeing now.

The world was a lot more peaceful with Trump in office.

Biden's the incumbent here. Care to discuss HIS foreign policy?

    You know:
    1) How the pullout of Afghanistan was handled
    2) The application of pressure on Israel to the point of providing cover to known terrorists
    3) the war between Russia and Ukraine, and the aiding of Ukraine without any sort of exit plan or off-ramp
    4) The suggestion of providing some sort of port (presumably organized by American military) in Gaza to provide humanitarian aid... as though that would go well.

I'd rather have an administration kissing ass to the Saudis than Iran and Hamas. And hate Trump all you want, our enemies feared him.

Our enemies look at this current administration and see weakness, which is pretty much the one image America cannot project when it comes to the Middle East.

And before you mention Putin, Trump may have "said nice things about Putin," but last I checked, Putin invaded Ukraine under Biden, not Trump. Based on results, Biden appears to have emboldened Putin a Hell of a lot more than Trump. Not that I'm a big fan of saying nice things about murderous dictators.

Towards the end of Trumps term some of the appointees were getting pretty bad. There is little doubt that a second term trump administration would be awful.

I find it frustrating that for some people, the most incompetent president in history is viewed as better than pretty much anybody from “the other side”. The rhetoric about how bad Biden has been is hyperbolic. I’m pretty sure you’d be saying the same thing about any Democrat.

If we could have just the policy results of the first Trump administration, without all the Trump baggage and drama, I may not like some of it but I could live with it. What I really dread is all the stupid stuff, a lot of it being dangerous.

    - his constant tearing down of pretty much all US institutions for personal political gain
    - driving a wedge between voters for personal and political gain
    - threats to do dumb things like pulling out of NATO
    - Telling Xi he can have Taiwan as long as he gets a good trade deal
    - his attempts to overturn elections
    - his suggestions to put aside the constitution for issues that would benefit him.
    - talks about firing hundreds of thousands of federal workers that have a core of knowledge and expertise in order to put his cronies in there.
    - discussions of using the justice department to pursue his political opponents.

This is third world banana republic stuff.

Tearing down US institutions? Not sure exactly what you mean by that.

I know Woodrow Wilson, a Democrat, is responsible for the administrative state. And I know over time many US institutions have completely torched their own credibility.

That's a them problem, not a Trump problem for pointing it out.

Trump's a symptom, not the disease. He's no unifier, but neither is Biden. If we can pin the division on one person and I'm not sure it's that simple, that person's Obama. Trump was simply the fallout from Obama's Presidency. A response to the division, not the cause.

Trump says lots of stupid shit. It matters, but I care a lot more about what he does and how he affects the actions of our enemies. Trump edges Biden there and it's not close.

    See above.

Our institutions are fortunately a Hell of a lot stronger than any one man, including Donald Trump, no matter his intentions.

This administration does not care about the Constitution.

All he'd be doing is replacing leftist cronies with conservative cronies.

Let's stop this charade that federal policy making/enforcing agencies are apolitical organizations run by nonpartisan experts. They are political and the people who run them are partisan.

The fact that you say this as a knock on Trump is genuinely hilarious.

Trump threatens to use the justice department to pursue his political opponents as the current justice department pursues its political opponents.
