Informative stuff. I'm inclined to think that means he's recovering from the wrist fracture.

What we all have always loved has been ruined. I hate it and that’s the nice way to say it.

Going to get a lot worse before it gets any better I’m afraid. Should have tried to work something out before they lost the first big lawsuit. It’s been all downhill since then.

Probably the only solution because having the fans/boosters pay them was not sustainable IMO.

That part ain’t going away, and the teams that were the best at utilizing it will continue to take advantage of it, imo. You’re going to continue to be hit up for UAA donations and NIL donations. Yay!

So the school can pay up to $20M annually......do you pay all athletes the same amount? 800 athletes would mean $25k per athlete which isn't outrageous. But do schools cut sports to either ease the monetary load or allow more dollars for the sports they retain?
Of course that would mean NIL deals still land elite players in several sports. Lots to still figure out

I’m guessing that 20 million cap will get blown up in a soon to be announced antitrust lawsuit. You would assume unions and a cba will be upon us shortly as well. It’s gonna be a mess for a while. They aren’t going to sort it all out overnight. Title 9 would kinda require they split it evenly I’d think. Will we see the football teams breakaway from the schools?

It almost sounds like there’s not that much figuring out to do—just get out of the way of it, but in a short period of time they have already proven the aftermath will ruin collegiate athletics. When Alan came through the system if you took so much as a pair of cleats or a glove from a scout or an advisor and the NCAA found out about it you were done. This is pure insanity.

Can the athletes in the Olympic sports take the payments and maintain their amateur status - if such a thing still exists.

Watching the softball game today and seeing Jason Williams sitting there on the front row made me think, what would he say about all of today's new acceptance in sports verses the problems he went thru? Certainly he had a variety of issues that were more than rumored but he might have been able to play longer in college if he was a teenager today. Not that I'm in favor of all these changes but White Chocolate might have had a pretty sweet as fudge deal in today's college market.

At most colleges, a significant number of athletes historically were among the poorest students. Some years back, they were allowed to keep the amount that Pell grants exceeded the normal athletic ride, but that was small pocket change, hardly enough to have clothes and fast food. Unlike other students who scraped by financially, they were not allowed by NCAA rules to hold any sort of part time job. Enough holier-than-thou purists successfully opposed any sort of effort to enable that group to live above the lowest level. The result is the current mess. I don't see what advantage there is for any politician to refuse to bring order to hugely popular college sports, but they have joined the NCAA clowns sitting on their hands. As a group, fans around the country have done no better in getting behind positive change. Some of us remember Pogo, who said from time to time, "We have met the enemy, and he is us."
