Police had a press conference this AM. The officer involved was disciplined for not turning on his camera, but sounds like the charges are moving ahead. Kinda feels like it’s the police vs. everyone else in Louisville and outside Louisville.
The report set forth that the detective was dragged to the ground. Did anybody see that in the video? I'd also be curious to see evidence of the detective's purported injuries.
Well what do you know.... a lying, piece of crap cop. Go figure! Has anyone wondered why cops hate cameras? It's because the expose the bullshit they try to pass off. And is it me, or did that pig try to bust his window out, or otherwise damage his car? Cop Claims He Suffered Abrasions, Ripped Pants In Altercation W/ Scottie Scheffler Gillis stated Scheffler's car then dragged him [To the ground] -- causing him "pain, swelling and abrasions to left wrist and knee." He also stated the $80 pants he was wearing were "damaged beyond repair." In the docs, Gillis stated he was so shaken up ... he needed to be transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. -------- The big charge: second-degree assault of a police officer (Felony - potential sentence of 5 to 10 years in prison) - The next most serious assault offense is second-degree assault. A person commits second-degree assault by: intentionally causing serious physical injury to another intentionally causing physical injury by using a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument, or wantonly causing a serious physical injury using a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument.
Are they going to say the detective was dragged and hurt and the part we saw was after he got back up off the ground?
Welcome to the Police State where a pig can get "disciplined" for not turning on his bodycam but no mention of being disciplined for lying about what actually happened as the person you are trumping up charges against is facing up to 10 years in prison.
And that he drove for 30 feet while the officer was attached to the vehicle. Not that 30 feet is that far but even that didn't happen.
That's certainly a possibility. Would think there would be a reaction from other cops if it were true.
They have to review all available footage to make sure that part isn't captured on camera before they make that claim. No other footage? Yeah, he hit the officer, causing the officer to do 3 back flips and land on his head. This is after the officer witnessed Scottie strangling a puppy.
Correct. None of the videos show the beginning of the incident, just the tail end of it. "LMPD did release two videos, neither of which shows the initial interaction between Gillis and Scheffler." Scottie Scheffler incident: Louisville police release findings of investigation into police officer
Failure to adhere to departmental policies does not give rise to a suppression issue unless they are of a magnitude they violate the 4th Amendment.
Yeah, you know more about this process than I, I was only saying that they admit their officer messed up, there seems to be zero evidence supporting his claim based on the video, and no one outside the PD and currently the DA seems to view this as worth prosecuting. Meantime PD is pridefully digging in, the DA is likely afraid to risk their wrath by dropping and publicly embarrassing them, and there’s no way he gets convicted on the current charges. It’s just turning farcical all the way around. But maybe the DA is just waiting for public opinion around the video to coalesce before taking the charges down a few notches at minimum.
I have not seen the actual police report yet which should contain interviews with (if any) civilian or LEO witnesses. From what is available RIGHT NOW it would appear this would be difficult for the Commonwealth to prove beyond a reasonable doubt.
My guess is that the prosecutor objected so strongly to the continuance of arraignment not only to show solidarity with the cops and avoid accusations of favorable treatment for a celebrity athlete but also because the prosecutor was hoping Scheffler would accept a plea to lesser charges before additional evidence and information came out, which would have allowed them to save face by getting a smaller win.
IMO.. It appears that a 22:34, Scheffler comes to a stop behind the bus. You can see his headlights reflecting off the ground between the pair of axles in the back of the bus. It begins to move again at 22:46. This is 12 seconds is probably Scheffler talking to an/the officer. Looking at the light reflection off of the ground, it doesn't look like he's accelerating at a high rate of speed or anything. It's obvious when he comes from behind the bus that he isn't moving fast. The officer also emerges before the vehicle isn't completely in frame. The average length of a tour bus is 40 to 45 feet. So the officer was drug to the ground almost the whole length of the bus, got up and caught up to the car before it had totally emerged from behind the bus? In my opinion, one of two things happened.. Scottie misunderstood what was going on and the officer grabbed onto the car like a god-danged hero for a few feet. His emotions got the best of him and he took it out on the driver and the car. The dragging to the ground never happened, there were no major injuries that needed to go to the hospital for, and all that extra stuff is CYA after finding out he arrested someone famous. Either way, 2nd degree assault sounds like BS because the was no intention on causing great bodily harm, especially at 5mph.
