    Didnt he decommit from us and not receive any other so significant offers? He really wasnt pursued hard by georgia, was he? Maybe a plan B. I saw him as a big but slow DL, one you would be happy to have if it meant a full position group. But on his own, not a gem in the class. Hope he gets put of it and if not too serious that he remains on the team.

    This kid is a nose so I’m glad we got him enrolled. Nasir Johnson was the gut punch to me between the two of them.

    Police chase doesn’t get swept under the rug often. This kid is in trouble. He spent three days in jail

    Well, here's my hope. I hope CBN doesn't just cut this kid loose. What good does that do? We speak of culture and creating good men. Let's live what we speak. Don't cut him any slack, but don't toss him to the curb. Make him work for it. Help him learn from it. Make him a better man when he comes out the other side. Show him you actually give a damn about him for more than just what he can do on the field.

    So what will it be? Cut the guy loose and be the "hard disciplinarian" or be forgiving and apply "the second chance".
    Some say if we cut him loose he will just suit up for Kirby, probably as a "PWO".

    Speeding is one thing, but speeding at 150 mph puts people at serious risk, not to mention oneself. Then leaving the scene?
    I agree with those that think this young man is faced with serious charges.

    Well hopefully this is the only off-season issue.

    sigh

    I like the idea of suspending the player a full year.
    Most players wouldn't do that- they'd leave.
    But if the player is really serious about turning things around (if he is), then he'll accept the consequences.
    And work to get better, focus on school work, etc.

    Also that way if he goes to another school and they let him play, we would stand in a stark contrast to that school. Making them look bad...

    Release him from his scholarship and NIL, let UGA pick him up. Charges will be dropped for mysterious lack of evidence, then he transfers back to UF an innocent man. Run him daily until he pukes. Problem solved!

    Frankly Distant, I think staffs have to reconsider the Universities position on bad behavior. Why? Because these are not "kids" going to school anymore.
    They are semi professional football players. I would be interested in knowing what the graduation rates are since NIL came into being.
    My assumption is that the numbers will show a steady decline as the sport continues in it's current direction.

    Point being, I suspect that Universities may take a "harder" stand against bad or stupid behavior going forward, much like the no fun league.

    Ya know, college used to be a place to get an education, a degree, a job, a future. To prepare youth for the rest of their lives.
    LMAO - Really? So the NCAA decides to not worry about class or degrees. To throw large sums of money at kids that are 18 or 19 years old.
    Kids, many of which come from socio - economic backgrounds that are not familiar with the trappings of wealth or money, or how to handle it.

    Combine a testosterone filled male athlete, with adulation, serious ass kissing, BIG MONEY, media coverage, bling, fast cars and loose women -
    What could go wrong?? SMDH

    Football, at one time, was an escape from the hardships of life. Congratulations to those whom have diluted and corrupted it to the point that many of us
    are fast losing interest. Unless of course one is interested in corruption, lawsuits and blatant disregard for amatuerism.

    Anyone up for some Cornhole competition?

    So it sounds like you are mad at the system these days...
    I don't like it either but that doesn't mean a lot of good things can't come out of it.

    Also- many of the things you described were around when I was at Florida in the 80s.
    I was teammates with a few football players on the track team.
    Some were really cool despite all the adulation- and some were not.

    I stand by what I wrote- if the young man is contrite and willing to work, one solution for CBN would be a 1 year suspension.
    But if not- whatever. He can leave...
    One more thing: I'll be disappointed if CBN lets him play this year.
    We are NOT UGA!!!

    Agree with this. It's a tricky situation and one of the most powerful things that I thought in that Netflix special on the Gators was Urban's re-thinking on the Avery Atkins issue.

    It may not be up to Napier.
    Hit and run and evading police at high speeds usually means jail time.

    He is also going to get sued by the man he injured.

    Yeah I'm not a fan of making light of this kids offense. It's more than just speeding but Jalen Carter left the scene of an accident from racing, with his teammate and staffer dying/dead and he didn't miss a beat. He was in fact celebrated as an NFL impactful rookie as if it never happened. It wasn't a one off mistake as he was let off with a slap for reckless driving months prior and I don't believe he missed a game at Georgia.

    All of these events are happening despite Henry Ruggs having killed an innocent woman and her dog while throwing away his own life in the not too far past. Young adults should be responsible for their own actions but the culture of entitlement and win at all cost programs should be held responsible to some degree. How Kirby continues to get away with his rogue program is infuriating.

    That said, I'm in favor of the year suspension and or revoking whatever else to see if he wants to earn his way back.

    Just read up on GA law for fleeing/eluding police.
    Felony charge is 12 months to 10 years and the charge can not be reduced to a lesser charge.

    Felony Fleeing or Attempting to Elude
    A misdemeanor charge will be elevated to a felony fleeing or attempting to elude charge if the driver while fleeing from the officer:

    Operates his or her vehicle in excess of 20 miles an hour above the posted speed limit;
    Strikes or collides with another vehicle or a pedestrian;
    Flees in traffic conditions which place the general public at risk of receiving serious injuries;
    Leaves the state; or
    Commits a violation of
    Failing to stop when entering road from alley, driveway or building under O.C.G.A. § 40-6-144;
    Unlawfully passes a school bus under O.C.G.A. § 40-6-163;
    Laying drags under O.C.G.A. § 40-6-251;
    Reckless driving under O.C.G.A. § 40-6-390. or
    Driving under the influence under O.C.G.A. § 40-6-390.1

    https://www.georgiacriminallawyer.com/fleeing-or-attempting-to-elude

    A person convicted for a fourth or subsequent time within ten years will be charged with felony fleeing or eluding and face a punishment of prison time between 12 months and 10 years, a fine between $5,000 and $10,000, or both. For felony charges, the sentence may not be probated, deferred, or withheld, and the charge may not be reduced to a lesser offense, merged with any other offense, or served concurrently with any other offense.

    --
    Considering the other charges of a suspended license, drugs, excessive speed and causing an accident with injuries, he most likely will get jail time.

    Why are folks bringing up Kirby and Georgia? Yeah he’s an a-hole and runs a shady program, but that has absolutely nothing to do with this knucklehead UF player deciding to act like a GTA character with a 5-star wanted level.

    Because the Jalen Carter incident involving a DEATH was essentially swept under the rug by the justice system. The same will not be given to this young man. Both deserve to be in prison.
