I kinda prefer being sent to Tally. If we can’t get up to play a rival that swept us, we aren’t gonna get up to play anyone else.

Lsu and vandy winning 2 games does not help Florida at all.

LSU and Vandy got above UF in the pecking order with their first wins. Eight teams the Gators already played beating up on each other from Wednesday morning until Sunday will probably cost the Gators about 30 RPI points (would be two spots as of the moment I write this), but it matters very little which of those eight win each game.

(If the -30 is unintuitive, the average W-L record among Gator opponents is >.500, [edit: a number that will drop because of] the .500-by-definition for those eight the rest of the way. RPI also has opponents-opponents W-L, which will go up as those eight teams' midweek games get diluted in the average, but not by enough to counteract the previous sentence.)

Vandy was already ahead of uf. Lsu likely too....at this point we need to be looking outside the SEC and how we match against those bubble teams

Can anyone update on games that might have helped or hurt us? I haven't followed today's action at all.

Yep, at this point we are down to hoping 11 SEC teams get in.

Miss St is charging into the host conversation too, which would give us a 3rd series win over a host team.

Good to see UF still in Baseball America's bracket today. Have to have a subscription for D1 baseball, anyone have one?

No updates on the most important thread on the page. We have been a “given” in postseason for years. I for one always want more games. Baseball is such a funny game in that you never know when the light will click or turn on ( see Ole Miss Just a few few years ago ).

I know we have limitations, but I still want to see us battle in any regional as it will help all of our kids experience wise. As of tonight we are still in the tournament. Hearing talk that Sully may run Jac out to the bump as our number 1 if we get in. Would love that as it would show a true commitment to surviving in advancing And seeing us throw our true number one in the first game makes a ton of sense.

Winning that first game is extremely important relative to advancing. Jac has or will have 10 days of rest by the time we play our first game and he only threw 71 pitches in his last game, which is close to a season low. At this point if we’re lucky enough to get in, there is no reason to have him as our number two or number three. It just makes no sense, especially in postseason.

D1 still had the Gators in (not last four) as of Friday morning: 2024 D1Baseball Field of 64 Projections: May 24 • D1Baseball

Of their last four in, Kansas State, Georgia Tech, and Cal are done with the B12 and ACC tournaments. James Madison still playing in the Sun Belt. Of their first four out, Troy and Xavier were bounced from their conference tournaments today. Northeastern and Coastal Carolina were already out.

I don't think the Gators have five games worth of pitching, so if they get in they nearly have to start with 2 wins. If the Gators get in, I hope the host take Game 2. Jac could go Game 1 and, if they win, then get about 28 hours of rest between his last pitch and his first game 4 plate appearance.

(EDIT: Not sure what GC rule on "double posting" is.)

D1 still has the Gators in, not last four in: 2024 D1Baseball Field of 64 Projections: May 25 • D1Baseball
They're very pro-SEC with LSU and USC moving on to the 2 line. Now the Tallahassee Regional is FSU/LSU/UCF/FAMU. I'll spare the "meteor" joke out of respect for storm damage already once this year. Gators projected to UNC, along with San Diego (U San Diego, not UCSD), and Army. Much tougher regional than yesterday's projections: UNC > FSU, USD > SoMiss, Army >> FAMU. (#3 regional -- #14 is Orst/Wake/St.Johns/Cal-Baptist. If Gators get past UNC... spicy!)

Stetson pounding FGCU 10-1. Stetson will play Kennesaw State tomorrow for the championship and automatic bid. Go Hatters!!!! Whoever wins will not impact our standing at all as Atlantic Sun will only get one team in no matter what. But then I think about it and say maybe Stetson winning really will help us since We played them a couple times this year. I would think that would make our strength of schedule go up even more.
