Just another reason to hate UGA. Rashada had a year and a half to do something. He's at UGA for 15 minutes and here comes legal action. Meanwhile it's the wild west on the streets of Athens. Is it going to take another loss of life for the media to come crashing down on them?

Don’t know why that would stop them. The last couple deaths didn’t slow them down any. Only seems to have made them more brazen.

Coach Napier could have no direct involvement whatsoever and still be advised to settle. Plenty of lawyers negotiate what are called nuisance settlements for their clients. That just scratches the surface.

By the number of highly ranked kids that left after a year in Miami, that 9.5 million was probably a very flexible number, not being funded.

I highly doubt anything comes of this. To try to win a case as brought without being amended would be a very hard row to hoe related to proof of an intent to defraud and damages.

IMO, the lawyer wants a jury trial, hoping to open up a whole new market for himself. My understanding is the lawsuit is not for breach of contract, but for 'fraud'. Does Rashada not enrolling and leaving soon after signing day negate any of this?

    "Nada" means "nothing" in Spanish.

    Nada for Rashada!

Good luck convincing a jury that a football program that had been recruiting him for months if not years, and didn't sign another player at his position, had no intention of actually signing him. Short of texts or emails saying, just get him to decommit from Miami, I don't see it.

    Meanwhile in Athens...

Paidinfull, this is probably a hopeless thought. I would hope the media would take a fool me once shame on me. Fool me twice shame on you. The politicians in Georgia will do nothing as long as Kirby keeps winning. Same for the Georgia media. This on going to take the national media going after them the same way they did during the Sandusky scandal. Please understand I am not wishing for an innocent person losing a life. But there have been enough arrests to give a really hard look

The next big development in college sports, after NIL and the transfer portal, will be college athletes no longer required to enroll in classes. They will just be "representatives" or "ambassadors" for the school. For no more than five years, till the next big developmet, which will be that they can keep playing for the school (or rather one school after another) till they're ready to retire or get too old to play.

It has to be kind of humiliating to file a lawsuit to claim a school really intended not to sign him, induced him to leave their rival , to not allow him to get NIL he chose to not take to play near home on his way to being demoted to third string qb with no market value.

    Better call Saul.

There is no way this goes anywhere. The contracts had clauses in them saying either side could walk away. And we walked away.

There is a picture of the contract going around where only Rashad signed?
I don’t see the fraud here.

First of all, you are in deep trouble is you believe Ruiz is telling the truth.
The man has lied so much to cover his and Miami's ass.

Ruiz is foolish to speak publicly on this and other like issues.
I believe he has a lawyer on retainer to handle the phone calls and letters from the NCAA.

Ruiz could be mudding up the waters to shed/deflect blame and to get UF into trouble.

It would probably help Rashada’s case if Ruiz backed up the 9.5 numbers. Saying he never talked about anything close to that is helping UF, imo. Doesn’t mean I trust him, but if he was trying to hurt UF, it would make more sense to be talking in the other direction.

The contract was with Gator Collective which is not a party to the suit.

That entity has no holdings, so no point in suing them at this point.

Exactly....going after the pockets that have something in them. That's why they're claiming fraudulent inducement. There was no breach of contract.

There was an article today on a news site—ESPN, Yahoo, SI, or similar—didn’t copy, to the effect that there’s no real animosity on either side. Going through the legal hoops to achieve a settlement. Who knows what the settlement will be, but seems to my non-lawyer self there will end up with him getting some money, and BN being dropped from the proceedings

Is there anything tangible that shows he was offered $13 million? Did our NIL even have $13 mill at the time? Seems unlikely..
