He does have value. He knows our defense and has good experience, but if he does not really want to be here it is not worth it.

Maybe his knowing last year's defense gives him no market value to other teams. Unfortunately for him that scholarship probably sailed.

Yep, give his reps to the younger guys. Develop them for the future.

Isn't that happening more and more now with kids entering the portal? I wonder what percentage actually find new homes.

We're all hoping that the defense he knows is changing drastically this year...

Having an experienced player at linebacker like Manny Nunnery would be beneficial for Florida.

Nunnery made some good plays In the 2024 Orange & Blue game (see at the 8:10 mark for the Int against Lagway):

Sharif Denson will later have an interception against Mertz (8:40).

FINAL: Blue 19, Orange 17 - Florida Gators
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Remember, Manny Nunnery came to Florida after the Gators had lost a couple of prominent linebackers to the transfer portal: Tyron Hopper (Missouri), Mohamad Diabate (Utah). UF's former players did well for both their respective college teams and for themselves. Both of those players now play in the NFL: Hopper (Green Bay) & Diabate (Cleveland).

What draft experts said about new Packers linebacker Ty’Ron Hopper

We had some serious toxicity on our team. It’s easier and easier to make sense of dumb shit like thrown tennis shoes — our man Billy literally had to drain the swamp. The jerkoffs speculating on his failure as our coach are straight up clueless - and destructive

Dumb shit happens on all teams. We’re not the only team who’s had a kid throw a shoe, sent 10 or 12 kids out on special teams, have two guys on the field with the same number. Losing makes people dwell on ALL those things though. If you’re winning, most people have forgotten about those mistakes by the next week. All teams at this level, and the next, still make mistakes. Finding a way to win anyway makes people quickly forget them.

There wouldn't be much content on this message board if not for speculation. I agree that constant speculation of the possibility of our coach's demise can get annoying, as can constant speculation of the possibility of his rousing success. Unfortunately, we are still squarely in the speculation category of both possibilities.

Those that needed to leave were shown the door. It's why i don't care what they did elsewhere.

I thought we were just discussing speculation.

I believe he’s referring to the toxic team members who either left on their own or were shown the door. That in fact is what we were discussing. I simply pointed to the toxicity and its likely role in our lack of discipline on the field, e.g. throwing a shoe which resulted in a turnover of possession that clearly lost us a game

If I’m a coach following Mullen’s tenure I’m not going to try to win in spite of dumb ——-: I’m going to do what all great coaches do and try and eliminate or at least minimize dumb ——. And to eliminate dumb —— you have to eliminate dumb asses.
Combine and blend all the dumb —— and dumb asses with a toxic locker room and you are in need of a complete overhaul and when that tear down and rebuild is complete: we will find ways to win.

Dumb things will still happen. They still happen in the super bowl, which is going to be arguably the best two football teams in the world. Nobody is saying don’t try to be better.
