No one cost him an opportunity. He turned down a reported $9.5M deal. His greed. His decision.

This. If you walked away from that much money (and a commitment you made) because your eyes got too big then that’s on you. Again, the irony of him suing Napier over a ‘commitment’ Napier allegedly made. Lmao

there’s no way he’s worth anywhere near that number

    ‘respect my decision’ :p:p:D:D:p

This is a distraction the program does not need right now.
it sucks being the poster child for NIL "screw up" in the media cycle.

It does not matter what is ultimately proved in civil court or otherwise.
I thought this "black eye" was over. SMH

I would agree with those suggesting Kirbys "wink and nod" was a broadside shot
against UF to keep the negativity in the news cycle.

FTR, it's useful to remember that Kirby is just a dawg. If he were an actual dog, he would almost certainly be a much finer person.

Trying to find the silver lining in the grand scheme of things

If Florida's black eye is the origin of major reform of NIL and the transfer portal, we could always claim that we fixed college football :D

What I don't understand is why Rashada's complaint keeps claiming there was a 9.5 million dollar deal with Miami, but Ruiz has come out and said that no deal amounted to that amount. So... someone is lying. If Rashada lied about the existence of the 9.5 million dollar deal with UF reps, he could be in trouble for the exact thing he's accusing Napier and co. about -- fraud in the inducement. At a minimum, it's false representation.

    Something does not add up.

This is obviously a big problem and we’re a total mess, but what it shows is we are really bad at paying players, presumably because we haven’t been doing it for decades. It seems a little suspicious that other schools were instantly really good at paying players and don’t have any problems when they had to “learn” so quickly when they definitely hadn’t already been paying players forever.

I have no idea who is telling the truth about the promises made to Rashada.
BUT- using occam's razor I believe the following...

    1) Kirby only signed Rashada because of the ability to file this suit. His signing doesn't make sense otherwise.
    2) As a bonus, Kirby was able to time the release of this lawsuit to take attention off the latest UGA driving arrest- which should be huge headlines but instead has been ignored.

Someone could condemn Kirby as a lying, cheating Dawg who couldn't care less that his players are endangering themselves and others, and they would be right.
What a wanton disregard of human life- all in the name of getting wins for glorious UGA. What a scumbucket.

Yet it was someone repping UF who opened us up to this crap so in that sense the blame falls on people who call themselves Gators. (Not necessarily UF or CBN.)

Given how risk adverse all the UF lawyers are. An astounding hot mess that this got out of control.
Curious if there is a quick payment to make it go away, or if the jawja NIL includes, cough, incentives.

I'm not naming names, but take a look at the UAA staff directory. Determining who is a Gator, and who is just here for their latest job isn't that easy. Would you be a Gator fan just because you worked at UF when you have 3 degrees from UGA and formerly bled red & black?

Personally, if I were Billy, I would be the biggest Gator on Earth because nobody else would have added so many zero's to my bank account, but who knows about everyone else.

Agreed Antny1. I probably should be more empathetic towards those that are losing their passion with knowledge of how things have always run. I just can’t imagine ever stepping back off campus on a Saturday and not feeling, “that old energy.” Lol.

People definitely can’t pretend to not know what goes on now. The only thing that prevented lawsuits in the past is that a player would be disqualified for bringing payments to light.

    GO GATORS!!!

I think the problem was that State law forbade UF to be involved with NIL solicitations. I doubt too many UF lawyers wanted to violate State law and risk their license to perform that review thus assisting the collective(s).

This!!!! FL legislation completely forbade any guidance from the state schools, which directly lead to this fiasco. One more thing that hamstrung the coach at a critical juncture.

What do you mean about UF lawyers being risk adverse? Neither the University of Florida or the UAA are named as defendants in the law suit.

I meant in regards to advice and guidance to staff on what not to do. Unless everything was spinning and developing fast enough that folks couldn’t figure out what guardrails to put in.

Yes, the UAA is providing him with legal counsel. Only way I see CBN settling is if there is something tying him to direct involvement. UF has paid coaches not to coach here. The ultimate insult would be paying a player to play against you....

I will be somewhat surprised if this isn’t handled swiftly. Either by the case being dismissed or by settlement. They don’t want to go through discovery or put all this shit in front of a jury and let them decide.
