This is the 24/7 rankings that includes transfers. We landed the #5 portal recruiting class in 2024. Very nice indeed. I believe 24/7 needs to change/update our overall recruiting ranking for 2024. https://247sports.com/season/2024-football/TransferTeamRankings/
I'm very happy with the overall class that Napier and company signed in the 2024 recruiting cycle... And I know that Napier has a better eye for talent than these recruiting sites, so that bodes doubly well for the Gators. #5 might even end up being top 3 when it's all said and done, talent wise. And that is quite an accomplishment. Napier and company signed a great mix of high school talent for the future, and experienced players ready to contribute in The Swamp this year. Together with the new coaches I have a rational confidence that we will have a far better team, especially on defense side of the ball, than we have had in the last few years. Can't wait...
To your point Jaden Baugh is a 3 Star in those rankings and that kid looks right up there with the best of the bunch alongside DJ and LJ
#13 in average player rating...But, lots of high-end talent in our class, which is my priority! In the SEC you can't win and be relevant without some ALL SEC talent, and we've been missing that. Hope this current class (and last years) has the on-field top-end production we need.
Back in the day, seeing UF on your schedule made your schedule brutal. We need to get back to being the bully instead of fearing the bullies.
Not only do we have talent, Napier is apparently doing this in a way that builds a team, not just a room full of talented individuals. I really hope this results into commitment and effort for each other on the field. Old values that seem to be fading in today’s mentality — it could make the difference we’ve been waiting for
bike - Thats the secret IMO. Hoping to get out of 24 with 7 wins and a great recruiting class, AND make some real noise in 25. Playoff noise hopefully.
Yup, that's my hope as well. I'll add (as I've said in other posts): we need the sophomore class to make a big leap and reveal some guys that might be ALL SEC in 2025....I'll be observing that (player development and top-end production) above all else in 2024.
All of that will happen this season if that staff has done their job getting the team ready to play. Team needs to stay healthy though, we still are not deep with experienced players.
Yep, old-school values are a mark of a team mentality... it's what Napier has assembled in Gainesville. You see many teams with a hodgepodge of seemingly talented players that never really gel or win like they should. I think we have a good team structure and team players in Gainesville. This is a solid team that I can't wait to see play football together.
It appears this ranking is based only on the incoming recruiting and portal classes. Has anyone seen a net ranking where they take into account the quality of the portal losses a school experienced to see what the net effect on the program might be. We lost some quality names in the portal. But I'm wondering how we compare in terms of losses to our competitors like Georgia, Alabama, Miami, FSU etc.
Yes, only the players added to the team. The Portal is used as a player added on to our recruiting class. Why should we bother subtracted players that left when they are not part of the recruiting class, nor portal players added to our class? Who cares about the players that left. Your last sentence is a moot point, because there is a better way to rate overall talent on your team without worrying about lost talent... it's statistic without a reason to exist. The best way to rate your team's overall talent is by using the blue-chip percentage of players on your team. Lost talent is a useless statistic.
