Police should reasonably be allowed to do their job and be given the benefit of the doubt in unavoidable split second decisions where intent is good.

That said, Qualified Immunity is heavily flawed as currently implemented, good cops do protect bad cops, and training is largely flawed in emphasizing officer safety over safety of the public who often does not make a conscious choice to interact with armed and armored agents of the government.

IMO end or drastically reform QI as it sits, force police to start carrying an equivalent of private malpractice insurance that will pay out when officers act poorly, involve neutral third parties in incident reviews, remove financial incentives from policing that encourage cops to find problems where none exist, and start financially squeezing departments whose encounters with the public result in disproportionate rates of lawsuits and payouts and you start to solve for this systemically.

From Blue shirts to Brown shirts. What else does one expect from the anti-law and order MAGAs.

What powers have actually been taken from the police? Seems 9 out of every 10 charged with something are typically acquitted.

I suspect he's referring to immunity from criticism and videotaping, at least in part. As long as they are beating up on the correct victims, I think he believes they are doing a service, and should not be criticized

Apparently Trump doesn't think that qualified immunity is sufficient since they could still be sued civility or charged with crimes albeit not that easily. Apparently he believes that the police should have absolute immunity kind of like the president.

or sort of like it is in Russia, you know, a police state with no checks and balances on those in power.

Immunity for police is a wild idea. It cant be that cut and dry, nothing should. Nobody should be above the law.

As far as policing goes. Before making a judgement based on too much youtube and tv, educate yourself on the number of police interactions we have in America per day and the number of those interactions that lead to a complaint. I will say that it might be hard to file a legit complaint with the police so that does factor into that number a little bit but the number is so small that this isn't the only explanation. The fact is the overwhelming majority of police interactions end without a hitch. Not sure exactly what the OP said about the police since they are blocked but I hope you keep that same energy when you need one to show up and help you out. Matter of fact, dont call them for help, you can handle whatever it is you'd normally need a cop for.

If so, then can the MAGAts quit screaming about prosecuting the woman who was shot on 1-6 trying to get into the chambers?

I am not certain that the cops in all cases aren’t just another branch of criminals.

A whole thread was dedicated to a DA who wanted to get away with speeding in NY but here people want to give her immunity to shoot someone? So weird.
