This is true but the state/district is not paying the premiums. I ALWAYS bought both long term and short term disability insurance. Most employers that offer health insurance do the same so it is not some “special” perk that teachers get.

OMG. So much fail. First a platitude: "it’s the looseness and lack of discipline that creates bad behavior in schools." So bad behavior comes from a lack of discipline .... duh. Then a blanket gender (fear-monger) blame on the "left" Poster just saw that one on The Gateway? Then blame "libbie kids" on the public schools' issues.... because oh yeah... zero citation. Oops forgot poster also claims it's the libbie parents running off the strong teachers, but since the majority of educators are intelligent enough to be left-leaning, poster must mean "strong" teachers are the righty teachers. Odd, innit, that the book bannings (right) and Maggot parents are the ones disrupting public schools? Lastly, ignoring the data that's been presented that teacher vacancies are a product of low pay, political heavy-handedness, and better opportunities in Ga, Tenn, and NC (all red states with no income tax), poster asserts that the left is somehow at fault. Have to adjust ones' view of reality to believe up is actually down.

Depends on where you live. Our public high school outperforms the $20k a year Catholic high school on the other side of town.

Small sample of salaries at our local high school. We don't lose many teachers to the private sector.

Well it ain’t starting pay that is the problem lol. While the OP wants to focus on average pay. Starting pay is on the hood side.

But if you want to complain about one of the best states for education just because. Go for it…
