I dont think its crazy to think the cops should be accountable to the people they police in a free country, but I would imagine there are lots of people like you who want government storm troopers to crack skulls without consequence, which you think is "normal." We've got plenty of authoritarian cheerleaders in this country, its a big place.

You are going to have to be specific, because I didn't see many liberals doing that at all. Quite the opposite, libs love giving money to the police, and are pretty much tied at the hip with the cops in all major cities because they need their endorsement, so they definitely aren't out there saying the cops are the real problem.

I agree wholeheartedly with you, but I’m nearly convinced Trump will win. The main reason is how Biden has (mis)handled the Israel/Gaza conflict. Israel is an essential ally, but our loyalty to that country should not have prevented Biden from declaring that Israel has overreacted and will receive no more military aid until there’s a permanent cease fire and a two state solution. This is not to excuse Hamas and its atrocities last October and over the decades.

I agree, cops should have no greater immunity than anyone else for bad conduct. I understand the reason for qualified immunity, but it is outweighed by the need to hold bad conduct more easily punishable. The good cops agree with this, but won’t say it.

 

It doesn't matter what Trump says anymore. The people are going to elect him and therefore deserve him. I've quit worrying about it.

 

There are a lot of righties rooting for a bad guy charged with crimes by the good guys who arent good guys when they charge a righty. Its a bit confusing so you have to stay on top of whether or not the authorities are to be trusted or not depending on who they are after.

 

Trump wants to give the president immunity and police immunity. And all the "I don't trust the government" and "yay small government" folks are gonna vote for him. Quite the incredible disconnect
