He deserves to be the highest paid coach in college. And that just sucks.

He deserves to be the highest paid, but nobody deserves a million plus dollars a game. Coaches salaries are out of control, along with everything else.

Buying the best players available does have it's rewards...

    Who said cheaters never prosper.

And to top this all off UGA is thinking about adding up to 20,000 more seats to their stadium. I think they add more seats but I doubt it's 20,000 more.

How is our seating deleting going?:mad::mad:

Stands to reason. Can't have the player(s) making more than the coach.....

I wish Kirby had the nfl itch. He would be great as the Raiders coach. He could even share a hair stylist with Mark Davis.

With coaches getting this much money I don’t understand why people are so upset about the players getting paid. I don’t like what NIL and the portal has done to college sports but I just don’t understand the double standard. You’ll have coaches who get huge contracts complaining about players getting paid. The hypocrisy is crazy.

At some point this may create some harmony issues too - particularly among the mercenaries who are mostly in this for the NIL

That could backfire too. Nobody is building 100,000 seat stadiums anymore, not even NFL franchises in huge metropolitan cities

They're selling out, so why not?

Yeah, I’m not a pocket watcher by any means but the money is getting ridiculous. Athletes and coaches. Meanwhile, ticket prices are through the roof. Out of all this nonsense, the thing that bothers me the most isn’t NIL for players, it’s the buyouts for coaches. I’d probably be a terrible AD and have losing sports programs but if I was in charge any coaching prospect who demanded a long contract with a heavy buyout would be disqualified. Give me a coach who believes they will win and that he/she will always be wanted here. My job could fire me at anytime for poor performance and the most I’d get is a modest severance package. Coaching buyouts are the worst aspect of the money era in college sports, and whether they admit it or not, they set the example for the players. Coaches have themselves to blame for the greed.

It would be an huge investment and they won’t be on top forever. I hope these assholes get so full of themselves that they end up hemorrhaging money and imploding

I can only dislike so much, but the fact that we're selling out 90k+ and have been doing so for over a decade leads me to believe that we do NOT need to delete any seats in The Swamp. And I doubt UGA's stadium will crumble if they add seats. But you could be right about the amount of seats added. I think the possibility of adding 20K new seats is way too many seats.

Bu the real point is that they are not deleting seats. If you could name some teams that are deleting seats could you please post them here so we can debate them individually, thanks in advance, Skink.

I don't think people would mind seeing coaching salaries drop by a significant margin. And I can't speak for the rest of the folks here, but paying players is not a big deal....as long as it is controlled. Pay all the players the same amount a year, $5000...10000, whatever. Then let the NIL part be what it really is about...them getting paid by a car dealership for making commercials; sell t-shirts with their pictures on it, etc. What we have here is just a legalized way for super rich schools to buy up all the players in the guise of NIL. That's what folks don't like.
Even the NFL has the draft for a reason, to create parity. If they left it all up to the players, they would all flock to the richest teams and the biggest cities. It's a sports killer.

I can’t answer your question, but it’s been decades since any team, college or pro, has built a 90,000 seat stadium. Even the stadium in Dallas is only 80,000, and pretty much every other stadium built in the last 20 years is less than 70K.

I know you hate the idea of reducing the capacity of Florida Field and I’m inclined to agree with you. But what we have is very cramped and in great need of updating in the facilities, especially on the East side.

My point however, is that it totally goes against the grain to be investing million$ into expanding a stadium that already seats over 80,000. This strikes me as an asinine decision to spend taxpayer money do some egos can be inflated beyond what they already are. These assholes aren’t going to be on top forever. I hope they do it

As an old Raiders fan that thought hurts more than what Mark and Al (post his egomaniacal breakdown over Marcus Allen) have done to what was once one of the premier organizations in professional sports.

FSU is currently. Wisconsin did and Ohio St. is planning on reducing seats a little. I think Arky did to but can't find the article.

    Tennessee and Bama did too.
