The three hour time lapse weather radar I just looked at showed the heavy rain came from the WNW, and it's slow moving. Hope I'm wrong, but it could be a while before first pitch.
We used to provide entertainment for the crowd by getting out on the tarp with different games and sliding practice. Do they still do that? Or is there too much liability in that for today’s world?
Sorry, I haven’t seen the guys slip & slide (or whatever) since we left The Mac. I remember one time 2 guys had guys on their shoulders and they were trying to knock the other one off. Pretty funny. Anyway, started raining again about 15 minutes ago. I wish they’d just call it and say DH tomorrow.
Nothing official, and I can’t find a rule on-line about not starting after a certain time or getting in a certain number of innings by a certain time. Anyone know?
They have to leave on their scheduled travel days. They can do a double header one of the other days but won’t move the whole series.
This will still be the thread for Game 1. I changed the title and updated the particulars on Post #1. There will be a separate thread for Friday's Game 2.
We have to leave in the morning and can't make the game tomorrow. Can we get a refund on the price of the tickets from tonight's game, or are we just out of luck? With a $300 hotel room, and a 5-hour drive to get to the game, this was not the return to Gainesville after 30 years that I was hoping for! (By the way, this place has changed a lot in the past 3 decades)!!!! Anyway, does anyone know the policy on refunds? We didn't buy the tickets ourselves, so I don't know the rules. We met an old friend just before the game and she had obviously bought the tickets and used her phone to get us all in. I remember years ago buying tickets to a concert that was rained out. Similar situation, and no refunds. Instead, we were told that we could use our tickets the next day for an entirely different band that we were not interested in seeing. The new ballpark looked great, and the tarp on the field looked brand new! Congratulations by the way, to anyone graduating tomorrow.
If the game is played, doubtful you can get a refund. If you have the digital tix, you can list them on Ticketmaster. Even with the early start, there will be buyers, but not the price you might get for a night or weekend game. If the game is never played, they'll issue refunds, but if only one game is played, that will be Game 1, which means tix originally meant for Thursday are NOT refunded. Sorry to hear the long delayed return didn't work out. Baseball 30 years ago was good, but nowhere near the Sully standard, even this relatively off year team has more talent- and more fun- than those earlier teams. Don't wait so long for the next return, hotels normally are a fraction of a grad wknd price and the baseball is worth it. The campus and Gvl, in general, are evolving. We now have our minor concrete canyons of apartments for students far more affluent than the old days and the central campus has been filled in much more.
Not sure you can use Coppola today- he had warmed up and come into the dugout to get ready to go... Anthem had been sung beautifully by UF student and then... first sign of trouble... 7:00 no umpires... and then the guys headed to the tarp... and waited 3-4 minutes and then... the long frustrating delay. Really suprised there were no games shown on the TVs around the Park and scoreboard. Nothing. Did get to talk to a couple of scouts (must have been 30 of them) and former AD Foley but overall a wasted evening and a soaking getting back to the car... but who's complaining- We play two today!
