I must admit, when I first listened before knowing it was him, I thought it was a media professional. This guy...wow. Polished, intelligent, on-message while remaining candid. Here's the video. Senior linebacker, talks about the bigger picture. He references an earlier interview with Graham Mertz.
I love talk radio, especially sports talk. Pauls shows is probably the worst I have ever heard, always change the channel when his garbage is on.
Great representative of the University of Florida. It’s also very apparent that CBN is doing the right things with our team. I like Wingo’s reference to “ the team we’ve built”.
Wingo is a good example of leadership we have been needing, and now we have quite a few guys on both sides of the ball.
When you read the toxic shyt that came out of Numnery and then listen to Wingo, you can really begin to appreciate what kind of attitude problems were likely a big part of our lousy performance last year. We had serious personnel problems on D last year. Not sure how much a head coach can redefine some of these kids’ characters. We’re a better roster this year — hopefully we see it on the field.
I saw this interview when it initially aired online Friday on Twitter or whatever it is called now. Very impressive young man who gives me hope for our future. Him and Mertz are either really good at faking “towing the line” or there are significant changes going on in the program that are under reported for hit pieces.
Totally agree, Skink!!! BN often first mentions a kid's character and the good job the parents made to his overall well-being! I have VERY MUCH appreciated the way Coach Napier is trying to build this team the right way, instead of with just talent and misfits!
Derek is a class act! Wow! I think he'll go far in broadcasting whenever he stops playing football, which hopefully will be not be soon! Not sure Reggie Hammond would approve though, lol:
You mean, a player is actually taking responsibility for what he is a part of? How refreshing. I've never heard Derek speak before, and, I'm impressed. I like this guy even more now.
Wingo is a big kid, listed at 240+. Hope he makes some plays this season. Nice to see a player that regardless of the draft is going to be successful. I noticed his delivery is slightly different than a recent transfer's.
I believe Wingo gets it. Meaning, he understands that life after football comes sooner than later. It appears he has capitalized on his school work and has set himself up to be successful regardless of his football career. Good on him. Hopefully, the younger players have taken notice and will follow his lead.
