We play 15 games against: #1 Texas A&M #2 Arkansas #3 Tennessee #5 FSU #7 Kentucky Not to mention six more games vs #13 Vanderbilt and #19 South Carolina. And that's not even counting the six games vs two of the last three National Champions, LSU and Mississippi State. This is completely insane. I guess we're trying to match what we have ahead in football.
Just my opinion but at the current time our toughness of schedule exceeds the maturity levels of our ball club.
We do have a lot of opportunity left on our schedule, but we're also 13-9 against Q2 through Q4 (RPI) and 13-10 against Q2 through Q4 (ELO). Last year's team went 24-2 against Q2 through Q4 (RPI/ELO)...both of those losses came in the first 10 games of the season. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
All those teams have to play each other too. No one is picking on us. We are just lacking maturity, leadership, IMO.
Wow!!! It's almost as if we have to play in the SEC. Our history of success in the SEC, especially in the Sully era, was a big factor in keeping us in the top 6 for so long- even after a bunch of losses. Some posts have complained that winning 2 0f 3 in a weekend is awful, but in fact, given that it's 2 of 3 against SEC teams puts us the top of any ranking. Our schedule is murder year in and year out and our OOC schedule is dominated by teams from around Florida who generally are good to very good- better than most of the OOC for other SEC teams- and those teams ALWAYS are fired up for a chance to beat the mighty Gators. This year's squad is very talented, but hasn't performed consistently well. Every team we face will do its best to exploit that inconsistency and this year they're succeeding too often. Most of the best and most consistent players will be pros by the end of June, so a bunch of current youngsters need to build on their experience in these difficult games. Some of the guys hitting under .200 better improve, but the guy who may be the best alltime Gator player got FOUR meaningless at bats in his frosh year, 2021. Even if none of the current kids make that sort of leap, some of them will be much better in 2025. Sadly, that doesn't generate much help for 2024.
Agree, for most part everyone plays same teams, although still unbalanced.. But the order you play them makes huge difference. If you continually get top half of league as the first half of your schedule, youre almost assured of a big hole to dig out of in 2nd half.
yeah, that certainly helps. But you can still be pretty good and get blitzed if playing 5 top 8 in first 5 series. No excuse to be 2-13, but losing becomes contagious. 7 of 13 losses 3 runs or less. Only good thing is AU not beating self.. pitching is horrid, but not bc of walks. Just getting shelled by good hitters. 25 HR allowed last 6 SEC games..lol They say solo shots wont beat you,, I disagree. UK had 5 one game..
In UFs case, all they have to do is finish over 500 overall to get in, that would give them enough SEC wins. Heck they could get to 13 or 14 sec wins and still be under 500 overall..lol Will be interesting if roll into SECT only a game or 2 over . AU basically has to have another 12-3 back half like last year.. dont see it,, but thats why they play the game. Didnt see it last year either
Massey Ratings - College Baseball : NCAA D1 Ratings SoS is what it looks like -- up until the last update. If you click on "SSF", that's projected SOS until end of season
UF passed AU for #1 SOS after lastnight.. LSU killing AU SOS.. bums. So the #1 & #2 SOS are a combined 41-41..makes sence I guess..lol
