$50 per day is egregious. Having multiple people have to pay the fee for the same cell is criminal. Who comes up with this nonsense?

You can actually invest in the company that runs the prison. How messed up is that?

I suppose it goes to your definition of "parole." And without having delved into it deeply, jail time plus fines are commonplace. Is this not a form of a fine? Regarding parole, it's nothing more than supervised release. It's not like the inmate has served out their sentence. The sentence hasn't been commuted.

A page right out of communist china: they send a bill to the family of an executed prisoner for the cost of the bullet.

But these people would tell us they are pro-freedom, pro-life, Christians who stand for “limited govt”.

    Bahahahahahata. Maybe in bizarro world.

Restitution to victims is reasonable before restoration of rights.

Fining them for 7 years for a bed they occupied for 1 is ridiculous. Even billing for actual time seems a bit over the top considering most would have no chance to pay. That they are double or triple billing for the same bed ought to be criminal. Smells like fraud.

Where do you think any money collected ultimately goes? To some corrupt “private prison” company, who no doubt kick back to corrupt politicians. Everything about it is gross. Opposite of justice.

Agreed. They get away with these cost of incarceration laws by arguing that the incarcerated person is compensating the state for housing, food, etc. That's what keeps it out of excessive fine territory. When you remove the "services" the state is providing from the calculus, the state starts to get into hot water.

If you just got out of prison, you are. If you're just trying to appear stupid....good job.

If you can demonstrate all that in legal form, I would tend to agree with you. Speaking of a smell, it smells to me like a lot of other DeSantis hit pieces smell. Like we're not getting the full story type of smell. I'm not saying it's a fake, but I would hope by now some of you had learned to pump the brakes a bit when something outlandish like this comes out from a relatively obscure source. Again, I'll reserve judgment until all the facts are laid to bare.

Are you? Do your handwritten capital G's, last letter in word y's and g's have conventional looped tails or do they resemble claws like these?

It's estimated between 75 and 80% of incarcerated or convicted felons script their capital G's and the handwritten tails of their y's and g's with a backward hook, commonly referred to as a felon's claw.

Penning Clues: The Truth In Our Handwriting - Criminal Element

"How much can handwriting matter when schools debate whether to even teach it? And given how rarely most of us put actual pen to paper these days, it seems on its way to becoming a lost art. Let’s hope not, because unlike face or voice, the hand doesn’t lie.

"Unless you’re corresponding with No. 231749, however, you might first notice it in the writing of family, friends, colleagues—or your babysitter. If so, good catch because it often appears in the writing of those who feel they have something to hide, like the “good” kid who isn’t so good anymore. Perhaps she cheats on exams, is experimenting with drugs, or is a convincing liar—honestly, she has no idea what happened to all your vodka.

"The Felon’s Claw can also appear in the writing of someone who grew up being made to feel guilty and who subconsciously believes he should continue getting punished. Even silent victims of abuse can unwittingly express feelings of guilt and shame via a Claw. If you see the Claw in the writing of someone you know or suspect has been abused, in whatever way at whatever time, it suggests the abuse remains an active burden.

"The Felon’s Claw can also appear from the hand of those responding more actively to guilt. You know that guy who seems so nice? However genial he appears, if he writes with the Claw, do your best to stay clear of him. A Claw can reveal a desire to strike back in a way that feeds the writer’s entrenched sense of guilt. It’s considered a hallmark of vindictive types, backstabbers. Whether he’s known for making cutting remarks or for undermining a rival, the risk for trouble is visible when his writing displays a Felon’s Claw."

I actually like this law. Making criminals pay the state back for us taking care of them.
Now we need to do that with all the illegals that get all this free money, we should consider it as a loan and deduct a portion back out of every paycheck.

No one is going to pay that money. This would just be another hurdle to prevent them from gaining back their voting rights
