Easy peasy, score more points every game and go home winners.

It would mean the Gators went comfortably over their projected win total (5.5) :emoji_money_mouth:

If went went 8-4, most here would take that right now, but if we start 7-0, the finish 8-4, half of this board will be screaming for his head.

That may well be true; personally, I’d rather have a team that physically overmatches its opponents, knock the snot out of them. Thus, no trick plays or schemes are necessary. Easier said than done but it can be done. We have demonstrated its effectiveness in some of our losses.
This, of course, is my hope. One can hope!

That's for the coaches and players, and it's good advice...

We the fans can talk all we want, we're not playing the game. :D;)

On a percentage basis, they pretty much know it is not a jet sweep. That's the point.

Doc, that is just, "out there".

Even if that were true, and it is not, it wouldn't mean Napier's plays are not easy to defend. Just because the coach says the players are not executing, does not mean he is correct. Even if he were telling the truth, it's on he and his staff.

That is true, becasue the perception is that we folded like a cheap lawn chair. But the reality is our most difficult games are Back-loaded. I think rational fans just want to be competitive in games... NO blow-out losses.

But yeah, starting out 7-0 would be great... yet ending 8-4 would (on the surface) looks like a let-down. For me it's how we lose games this year.

But we need to start out strong and we need to defend The Swamp. If we can just win all our home games that in and of itself is a huge leap forward.

That means we have to beat Kentucky and Ole Miss at home. Both are going to be difficult games... our offense will need to score a plethora of points if our defense goes into the default 3-8 defense... prevent defense all game long.

I have predominantly seen inconsistent play over the last two years. I don't need anyone to tell me if the problem has been lack of execution. It has been quite apparent that lack of execution has been upfront and center on both sides of the ball! Despite that, the Gators were still in quite a few games and could have won. And, the Gators offense was beginning to function well and almost beat Missouri in their own crib; and Missouri ended up ranked 14th!
Now, I'm not predicting 7-0 before Jax. I only asked what would it mean? Here's what it would mean: better OL and offense executing plays. I fully expect the defense to keep us in most games. I heard an analyst comment that he wouldn't be surprised if the Gator defense was ranked somewhere in the 20 range. The Gators were ranked 87 in 2022 and 71 in 2023. Therefore, I doubt we make it into the 20's, although that would be awesome! If we are ranked just below 50, that will be a significant improvement. IF the Gators defense lands in the 20's, we will definitely be in most games. Clearly, we have upgraded in some key areas, but just a few key injuries would really affect an 8-4 or even 7-5 season. IF we can stay healthy and execute offensively, and the defense really improves (and they have to be better than 2023), we will be in most games!

Seems that our first 7 games are what matters at this point. Who knows how the back half will look for our team, or the supposed juggernauts we play. There's not a team we play before georgia where we shouldn't be in it. If we play conservative and it comes down to a missed kick or dropped pass, it is not an excuse for the staff, although I realize that many here will say "what's the staff supposed to do if a player drops a 'key' pass?" We all want to see a staff that wins games by on-field management, when that's what is needed. miami, kentucky, tennessee, miss st- none of those teams should have anything on us talent wise so staff has to win games with their team. I don't know why so many here seem to reserve the right to blame the team when it's up to the staff to use the team to create distance between our score and theirs.

What would it mean if we had another losing season at UF? Would it be an AD that accepts mediocrity? Would it be that Mullen let the program get so bad that Napier could not turn it around in three years and we really needed four to see if he was the guy? I think we already know that Napier’s play calling and red zone offense fails to score enough points to beat the best teams and often created field goals rather than touchdowns. I think we already know that his 2 OL coaches get out worked on the recruiting trail and are not great recruiters. I think we already know his Army and delegation does not prevent special teams coaching blunders. I think we already know our S&C program has been ineffective on the line of scrimmage and allowed us to be pushed around. I don’t know if the S&C and nutrition coaching changes will have an impact this year. I don’t know if the changes in defensive coaching staff will give our offense more opportunities to get the ball back. And I don’t know if Napier will give up play calling to his TE coach to allow us to score more points on offense. We need to average at least 38 per game to have a chance to be undefeated as this thread title questions.
