That’s often how it works, yes. I’m sure even you’ve heard the saying “the coverup was worse than the crime”. In this case, supposedly the documents were really bad. So maybe the crime actually was worse. But the fact is Trump took extensive measures to lie and obfuscate to investigators. He even lied to his own lawyers! Later having his valet put the documents on his plane for transport to NJ. At that point, he’s piling crimes on top of crimes.
Ok, but I'm not sure I want to say how bad Trump's docs vs how bad Biden's docs were at this point. Of course, I realize that if Trump had them, they were bigger and maybe the most classified ever!!! LOL

You entirely miss the point! I conceded that many aspects of several of Trump's indictments are not similar or close to what Biden did. Are you willing to concede though that some of the indictments against Trump are nearly identical to what Biden did? If not, you are correct there is no point in discussing it further.
Your parallel logic aside, you're still just excuse-making for a criminal. This isn't really that hard to understand : when issued a subpoena, Trump enlisted help to move and hide the classified documents. Biden, when notified, instantly complied. Even a child could understand this. So should you. You just want to make things up, and throw s____ against the wall, in order to continue your fact-free shilling for a criminal.
I'm willing to concede that there were some similarities between the situations of Biden and Trump. That being said the reason that Trump was indicted wasn't because of his acts that were similar to those of Biden, the indictment with its multiple counts was entirely attributable to the differences between the behavior of the current president and the defeated former president. No matter how hard you and the high profile Trump apologists in Congress and the conservative media scream about selective prosecution the situations of the two politicians are by no means remotely analogous.
I think the initial conduct and subsequent obstruction can be separated out. However, when someone is notified of a violation, what they do after they are put on notice (such as hiding or destroying evidence or asking witnesses to lie) seems fair to consider in evaluating their state of mind and intent behind the underlying conduct.
I don't really disagree with you or VA, and I'm not defending Trump as much as I am indicting Biden. If we both commit a murder, and I run, break more laws and do everything in my power to not be caught and you turn yourself in, doesn't change the fact that we both committed murder!
It looks like we have to perform some "education for idiots" here for the thousandth time. 1. Not all classified info is treated the same. Nuclear secrets and a VP schedule are a whole world apart. 2. Usually, if you give back classified material when found, you aren't charged with anything. 3. The behavior of Biden and Pence vs. Trump were nowhere near the same. Let us know if any of this is too complicated for you.
FYI Not Just Trump And Biden: Every Administration Since Reagan Mishandled Classified Records, National Archives Finds Rather than a murder a much more relevant analogy would be a situation in which I inadvertently took confidential documents from my employer when I cleaned out my desk upon retirement. When I discovered that I was in possession of the documents I voluntarily returned them to my now former employer. You did the same only the missing documents were discovered by the employer. When the employer requested return of the documents you returned some and retained the rest of them. Your employer reported the previously unintentional taking and now intentional theft to law enforcement authorities and when you discovered that you were being investigated you hid the documents in the hope that they wouldn't be discovered.
Very poor analogy since irreparable harm is done in your example. How about two contractors fail to pull permits ( say for no engineer sign off) for their pool jobs and get caught. One gets the needed documents together, pays his fine and moves on. The other ignores the notice, finishes the pool and takes off with the owners' money. Both began with a similar "crime". One simply made the issue much worse. Do both go to jail?

Was Trump indicted for possession of classified records before the ask to return them or for possession after the ask and his refusal to turn them over?
