Pretty big deal going on up there. Flights cancelled. MLB games in NY and Philly cancelled. And very dangerous air.. https://www.cnbc.com/2023/06/07/canadian-wildfire-smoke-nyc-residents-urged-to-stay-inside.html
It’s made it at least as far south as me, hazy orange air today, though not nearly as pronounced as NYC.
I'm a little further west of you, if I recall. I didn't notice that the air was hazy, but there was a Red (bad air) warning, and our neighborhood pool was closed. My daughter had to use her inhaler for the first time in years.
I’m off Belmont Ridge…Took this at about 7p tonight. Normally there’s a range of foothills out there.
me too. I spent 3 hours outdoors playing music in foggy bottom today. It was a bit hazy, but nothing like what I’m seeing in NYC
I have been in Newport RI for a work thing the past few days. It was crazy bad this morning. On my Uber to the providence airport we were crossing over a long bridge and at the apex of the bridge I was literally in a cloud of smoke. Eyes, throat and nose burning. My flight was delayed and then canceled as I connected in Newark. Was thankfully able to get on a different flight that avoided NYC and am landing back in VA as I type. Suppose to be pretty bad down here tomorrow.
Goodness, we haven't seen anything like that. If the governors want to call out their National Guards, I'm thinking the northern border should be the higher priority.
Canadian military, international firefighters battling blazes Return to menu By Amanda Coletta TORONTO — Canada is leaning on its military and on firefighters from outside its borders to aid in its wildfire response, as blazes raging in several provinces and territories put pressure on domestic resources. Several hundred members of the Canadian Armed Forces have been deployed to Alberta, Nova Scotia and Quebec. Nearly 1,000 firefighters from countries around the world, including the United States and South Africa, have also arrived to help, with more expected to arrive this week.
