Cornel West has announced that he is running for president as a 3rd-party candidate. It seems to me that he is likely to take millions of votes away from Biden and none from the Republican candidate. So, the odds are that we will end up with Trump or DeSantis as president along with a Republican controlled Senate. Hopefully, the Democrats can retake the House, but it doesn’t look good for our country.
Would be interesting to run the math on the percent of votes for third party would have been needed in 2020 to make the difference in swing states.
Thanks for the moronic post. This guy will get a ton of votes if he is serious about the race, which I am sure he is. You might want to do your homework before you shoot your mouth off.
I’m exceptionally informed, I know who he is he’s not getting millions of votes. If you want to worry about someone worry about RFK Jr.
Scary. Cornel West could end up as an African American version of Jill Stein or Ralph Nader although I think that Trump and DeSantis as well are so scary to the left that even voters on the far left of the political spectrum who do not particularly like Biden will hold their noses and end up voting for Old Joe rather than risking the election of either of the two most racist candidates nominated by a major political party in over a century.
He supported Jill Stein in 2016 (I think ) and look where that got us. Some people just like to complain and / or left wing virtue signal. Cornel West backs Green Party candidate Jill Stein
Third party candidates can siphon enough votes off to change the winners in selective states. Ross Perot and Ralph Nader are two recent cases.
I don't think he's brilliant or anything close to brilliant. Karl Friston is "brilliant." Noam Chomsky "brilliant." What work has Cornell West produced other than his personality that anyone takes seriously?
He's an academic like Chomsky, a guy who also writes books for a general audience. Race Matters is a classic, I think. I think he's an interesting synthesis of black radicalism and Christianity. I think Chomsky, Zinn are on the same level as him. That being said, he's guilty of some questionable judgement in hitching his name to the People's Party, which is not a serious operation (and involves some other professional-left grifters like Jimmy Dore), IMO.
