I pay people who carry stuff I’m unlikely to ever need. I travel lean with info at my fingertips and focus on high value adds which is definitely not a pocket knife. I had a Swiss Army knife when I was a kid and my dad succumbed to the marketing BS that it was something someone should have. I quickly learned cash was more useful.

 

Don’t carry one. Never have. I have one somewhere in my toolbox I got as a kid. That is if my daughter hasn’t stolen it.

I can’t say I remember the time when I thought “if only I had a pocket knife”. That would be just one more thing clinking around my pockets, unless you wear it on your belt which looks kind of douchey.

 

I carry a Boker to work every day. It mainly cuts packaging tape and that's about it. Carried it around with me when we were in Vegas recently, just in case. I keep one in my Jeep. I don't really carry it very often in the summer because it's relatively heavy and weighs my shorts down. I might would carry it more in the summer if I owned a rugged pair of jorts.

 

Why did you say "men who carry pocketknives" and not "people" then?

 

LOL. No, dumb troll threads don't threaten me. And if you were genuinely curious, you wouldn't have assumed that "very few of the regulars on here have ever owned one let alone carry one". It's very clear what you were trying to get it.

 

I remember a time where people would carry multi/leather tools and pagers/phones on their belts, we called those people dorks

 

The funny thing is he says he's only been carrying one since he was 15. I was tromping around the woods with a pocket knife when I was 8.

 

My man is a knife nut. He carries a Swiss Army knife in his pocket, and one in both his cars. Then he has to order the most expensive knives he can find to use prepping and slicing a brisket and other meats he likes to smoke. Then there’s his survival knives because he says “You never can tell.”

Yeah 8-15 sounds about the ages I last thought having a Swiss Army knife was cool. Never got to use all the attachments. Couldnt even use the opener thingy on a beer at that age.
