https://www.theatlantic.com/technol...tin-medical-subculture-covid-pandemic/673467/ From the introduction: “A piece that surely must be out of an old science fiction magazine, but sadly reminds me that some of the people I know back where I’m from would rather listen to a truck driver extolling the benefits of horse medication rather than reading an actual newspaper, or going to Walgreens and helping their fellow man by getting a vaccination in the form of needle stick from an actual doctor or pharmacist.” “Since fall 2021, Daniel Lemoi has been a central figure in the online community dedicated to experimental use of the antiparasitic drug ivermectin. “You guys all know I’m not a doctor,” he often reminded them. “I’m a guy that grew up on a farm. I ran equipment all my life. I live on a dirt road and I drive an old truck—a 30-year-old truck. I’m just one of you.” Lemoi’s folksy Rhode Island accent, his avowed regular-guy-ness, and his refusal to take any money in exchange for his advice made him into an alt-wellness influencer and a personal hero for those who followed him. He joked about his tell-it-like-it-is style and liberal use of curse words: “If you don’t like my mouth, go pray to God, because he’s the one that chose me for this mission.” The tragedy is that people like him caused such great harm to so many. All one had to do was think of one’s fellow man, follow CDC guidelines and use common sense, if you had any.
remember that you need to add a substantial opinion or comment of your own when you start a thread Thanks
You wonder what compels people to follow someone who clearly has no qualifications. I doubt they take farming advice from their local pharmacist.
We just had this ignorant thread. Can we merge and let it fall away so those who are propagandized will get closer to understanding reality?
LOL… You might be part of the 15% who took the bivalent booster. I clearly was part of the group who already knew…
Really funny coming from the guy who has started more covid threads here than anyone, even though we have a covid thread that is continually on page 1.
I get you are likely part of the 15% who is still controlled by all that was wrong when it comes to Covid. You will get there one day. Takes longer for some…
I'm part of the large majority of Americans who got vaccinated and took common sense precautions for covid. You're part of the quackery like the guy who just killed himself from taking horse paste every day for 9 years.
RIGHT? I was one of the few that still took the O.G. mind control vaccine for the fake Polio virus. I blame that moment for turning my independent, organic, and God-fearing mind into a ravenous communist NPC. Still, I wouldn't be a true revoluntary social justice warrior until I got my annual influenza booster against the H1N1 "it's really just a bad cold." I just wish I had taken the time to realize that I could have easily either prayed away or taken [remedy] covered by a peer-reviewed (read: comments) YouTube page. Thank you for the reminder. I'm going to go out in nature for a bit and start regularly inserting garlic suppositories or whatever woo people substitute for sound, "professional" medical advice.
Q's quackery is breathtaking. It takes a certain arrogance, not to mention bullheadedness, to cling to a position debunked by science's leading experts......and to do so in defense of Ivermectin! I can figuratively see the top of Q's head as he keeps furiously digging that hole he's now incapable of getting out of. It's sad, really.
It seems to me there is a common sense path that most of us are on, which avoids the "vaccines are the devil, and alt-methods are the answer" crowd and the "wearing a mask in the car or walking outside by myself" crowd. I don't need to read any articles to spot cuckoo. I just pay attention to the little bird popping out of your mouth when you starting spouting off.
Those partial to quackery would see deference to science, which has proven them misguided, that way. It's a defense mechanism. In any event, "morally superior identity" is a nonsensical phrase in the context of whether one believes Ivermectin is an appropriate treatment.
