I'm not sure why people would necessarily bring their kids either but I guess there's demand for it?

The need is, I suspect, to misquote Sean Connery "If you're afraid of not being able to normalize certain behaviors, don't go to the barrel. Go to the tree."

It's truly amazing to me how much time Too Hot conservatives spend thinking about transgender people.

I think it's just a form of political rubbernecking. The odd stuff gets a lot of attention. Human nature.

It's amazing to me liberals want to bombard children with drag queens. IF the libs didn't do this I wouldn't complain. Easy as that.

The only reason you're "bombarded" with it is because of right wing news sources amplifying drag queens as a story. How many drag queens do you encounter on a day to day basis in your life?

Too funny. So videos show up of drag queens all over the net and it's the right wings fault LOL. I'm a libertarian but I'm against Trans athletes competing against women and I don't think kids should be a drag shows. I get it, you don't like it either but don't want to lose your libbie card. If the left doesn't want to see videos of kids at drag shows, then maybe stop them from happening? I know, crazy thought, right?

I cannot speak for anyone else but I do not want to bombard children with drag queens, it's just that I find it somewhat absurd how some righties are so easily triggered by those relatively rare events in which drag queens do read to children. Additionally, I also find that conflating sexually suggestive adult performances that are clearly inappropriate for children whether by performers in drag, strippers or (for some women and gay men) Chippendale style male dancers with the reading of books to children by actors in costume a form of absurd deflection.

Crazy that women's sports have to specifically ban man pretending to be women. 2023 is wild.

At what point do they just be satisfied that the world accommodates their make believe session and stop trying to act like they are biological women? They're not. That's a fact. Accept it.

I'm not a 7'1" NBA player but I don't require my local gym to lower the basketball hoops and have everyone else play on their knees so I can pretend I am. If I want to imagine this I can set my driveway hoop to 7" and have a slam dunk contest against my kid.

So kids attended inappropriate performances. The fault either lies with their parents or the promoters of the events. It happens and almost certainly very infrequently. Some other examples of minors attending performances intended for adults.

Sometimes life isn't fair. Another fact that needs to be accepted.

What is the benefit of having a story read to children by a man dressed as a woman that they do not get by having the man dressed as a man? Costumes that depict a character from the story, or a character from history, or even a clown, enhance the story time. Merely having a man dressed up as a woman, even with exaggerated make up, does not enhance the story time.

What’s bizarre is how many places around North America are promoting drag-queen story times. It seems they exist mainly for the enjoyment of the guys in drag or to push some kind of ideological agenda.

There is even an organization whose purpose is to promote these:

This post brought the wise and familiar words of "The Serenity Prayer" to mind. Often attributed to theologian Reinhold Niebuhr, the words have been added to and altered through the years.

"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference."

Yeah, when inappropriate behavior at drag shows are promoted and celebrated, that's kinda the whole point here.

Reading is fundamental (or is that fun for mentals . I support anyone encouraging all kids to read.

the one time I took my son to a drag library reading. The reader dressed as Cruella De Ville and read a short version of 101 Dalmatians. It seemed appropriate. About half the number of kids went that usually went according to the librarian. The reader did a very good job.

It’s basically social media driven mental illness. From a sect of people who’s only apparent access to “culture” is through the internet.

Most of these people have never seen a transgendered outside LibsOfTikTok. But because they see it discussed in their channels all the time, they think they’re surrounded (by trannies), and the walls are closing in.
