In the wake of the recent American election, fears and anxieties proliferate. Basic civil liberties are seen as endangered, along with many of the rights for women won over the past decades, and indeed the past centuries. In this divisive climate, in which hate for many groups seems on the rise and scorn for democratic institutions is being expressed by extremists of all stripes, it is a certainty that someone, somewhere — many, I would guess — are writing down what is happening as they themselves are experiencing it. Or they will remember, and record later, if they can.

Will their messages be suppressed and hidden? Will they be found, centuries later, in an old house, behind a wall?

Let us hope it doesn’t come to that. I trust it will not.

what southern values are at risk? Respect for others? Responsibility for yourself? Family values? Honor your word? Neither party represents these, these are internal and things you practice on a daily level, not something one should look to a political party for.

 

How about being called a racist for every reason under the sun. How about being called a gay basher because I prefer not to see gay sex in my shows.
It’s literally moving in the opposite direction of the way it was when we were young. Discipline in school is basically a lost art.
I promise you the govt schools are a freaking mess and it’s a direct reflection of the way libbies have diminished these values.

 

What exactly are “southern values” and how do they differ from Midwestern values, or northeastern values or ….?

 

Guys like you struggle to understand or appreciate these values. Guys like you are interested in tearing things down for the sake of canceling folks.
Many cons enjoy holding people to a certain standard.

DeSantis doesn't need to ban kids from R rated movies. It's already a law. My son and his friends tried to go see a Rated R movie and got kicked out for being 16. Simple as that.

I don’t think my side of the “Culture Wars” sees you as you see yourself. For example:

1. I don’t thin people call you a gay basher because you choose not to see drag shows. It is because you want to criminalize others from watching the show that they choose to see, where the label is attached.

2. People don’t care that you choose not to embrace a gay lifestyle. People criticize those that want to denounce those who choose a gay lifestyle.

3. People don’t frown upon your southern values of respect. People “bash” those that claim to exercise southern respect, on the one hand, yet hypocritically condemn their neighbors for living a lifestyle that makes them uncomfortable. There is no respect whatsoever.

4. People don’t look down upon you because you instill values in your children. People criticize those that instill fear into their children and seek to shelter them from anything that is not traditional “white christian” normality.

Succinctly, my side of the “Culture Wars” truly embraces a “treat others with respect, as you’d expect to be treated” ethical code.

 

Homeschooling remains a live option.

the racist card is overplayed. that said, racism is still rampant but it is people of all races being bigots against those not like them.

gay people exist, they love each other, just like hetero people do. I'm, sure there are channels that do not reflect society at large but why shouldn't mainstream entertainment reflect society at large? People didn't want to see a black and white holding hands either. I'm sure there are christian channels that contain little or no same sex interactions.

Discipline begins at home. School isn't the location for it to be learned. Sad reflection on bigger societal problems of respect being taken or expected and not earned. There are lots of conservative people with spoiled rotten, punk kids, and it wasn't the schools that made them that way.

 

Take you own advice. Don't be telling anybody in here to shut up pal. If you don't like him, leave.

More like comparing Rated R to NC17. No one under 17 is admitted. No children should be to a drag show or a strip club. This isn't a radical idea.

The MPA gave the movie an NC-17 rating "for some sexual content." NC-17 is a higher classification than an R rating and means no one under 17 years old can be admitted to see the movie, whereas for rated-R films, those under 17 can see the movie with a parent or guardian.

 

Those woke merchants will try anything to sneak stealth gay content into school libraries
