How many departments are at UF? How many do you think give a crap in their daily work about race?
Sure, there are departments that study this stuff. But it's not the whole institution. Or even the majority. Or even a large minority.

 

I literally said bad science happens.
Jesus it's almost impossible to have a legitimate discourse with you it's like talking to a middle school student.
Why do YOU think there are millions of people like you?

 

I'm confident about UF, and higher ed broadly, because it's what I do. It's my career - I'm an expert in higher ed. Broadly. The mission. What it's supposed to do. How to make it better. It's not like I'm on here being super confident about space travel, or farming, or sailing... IDK shit about those things.
I don't know everything about everything in higher ed - it's too broad a field for that - but I do know more than you and more than 715 on this issue. And that's not an attack, it's just a fact. I'm sure I don't know as much about your business as you do.

I can certainly comment on higher ed with a great deal more nuanced understanding than you - or most other people for that matter who haven't made it their life to work in it and study it. Everything that you all say are based off of limited experiences from your own school experience, or from what conservative sources tell you.

 

It just really grinds my gears when conservatives start debating someone and then when they find out that person has expertise in the given area of debate they try different tactics to downplay that expertise so they don’t have to change their own opinion.

 

and yet you’ve accused me of being a bad communicator. The irony. yes all people are insecure. About something. Higher Ed is not one of those things for me. I’ve learned so much about it and keep learning more every day. I’ll never know it all and that’s ok. But expertise doesn’t mean you know everything. But it does mean you know what you don’t know and that’s ok. In your case, and in 715s, you don’t know what you don’t know. And that is not an insult it’s just a fact of your life experience. Just like I don’t know what I don’t know about farming. I can barely keep a house plant alive.

 

Hey I find your doubling down on ignorance and hating on expertise like it’s a badge of honor to be just as interesting. Keeps me coming back.
