It seemed to me, both times Vescovi got foul shots he was almost laying down a second after the shot. I think this should be called as flopping and he should be awarded a foul to stop everybody who shoots just doesn’t flop down. Now if the shooter was going towards the basket and the defender is close, yes he should be awarded foul shots. But they played both these shots back on tv and it looked to me as flopping. We need clarification from the the SEC office as to these easy flopping calls. anyone at the game or watched this please give your thoughts!

A leg kick should be reviewable. It’s hard to tell in real time to the refs’ defense, but easily seen in replay.

IMHO...it was flopping. Additionally, Refs should know that he consistently tries to create contact (or falls) whenever possible. I've only seen a small small portion of Tennessee's other games and saw the same thing.

Chuck made both of those foul calls and at times Chuck can be persuaded by the coaches to look for something and then he will call it. I guarantee you that Barnes was telling him to watch for fouls on the 3-point shot and Chuck is more apt to make that call. Chuck compounded the mistake by not taking a look at it on replay probably because he knew he kicked the call and would have to overturn it. Overall, that was a good crew we had and thought they did a good job. Chuck is a good official it's just that senior coaches know he can be persuaded at times to see things there way. TG will learn a few of those tricks as well once he learns more about the officials.

They need to to make a shooter’s leg kicks and flops a technical foul. Players would mostly stop this nonsense if it was too risky. I don’t want hoops to turn into soccer with its frequent fake flops.

The review on the second flop was to see if he should get 2 or 3 foul shots for the flop. The actual foul call is not reviewable.

I thought at first it was being reviewed due to the kick. Then they explained the 2 or three shots. Still doesn’t make it right to kick your leg out way more than normal on you shot. Vescovi the shooter could hurt someone, my concern. He got down easily on the first shot, he knew he missed the shot and when he saw it wasn’t going in he quickly, he started his act.
The kick was way beyond the defender fouling him, again acting and potentially hurting someone. That should have been called flopping!
The ref screwed up the call!
CTG should get this to The SEC office and have them explain the video of him kicking and also the one where he was obvious play acting on a slight bump. Of course we want get the slight bumps on the road as Kansas State, Texas A & M were bumping our shooters all night to no avail. Ask them why, with film clips of getting bumped on the road in the act of shooting is not a foul. I can only imagine what will be called in Rupp.

Vescovi is too good a shooter to have to flop all the time. Our guys shut him down, take away his acting points he was a non factor!

I seem to recall the Gators getting called for flopping earlier in the season. Dont recall the player tho. As you say some consistency would be nice.

Yes. Our player was given a technical foul for flopping and the other team got a free throw.

You are right that it was the first one.

When the Rowdy's were chanting Seven Nation Army he asked me if we were watching a soccer/futbol match. I said "Well, there has been some diving."

I think Bonham got called for it a couple times. And his weren't as obvious as Muscovi's.

Sean Kelley, the new pbp guy said on Steve Russell’s show that orange and blue cowboy guy was heckling Vescovi in his native Serbian

Speaking of Sean Kelley, I think that was a phenomenal hire by UF. I really enjoy listening to both the football & basketball radio call. Hated losing Mick to retirement. His play-by-play was always so enjoyable imo. But, Kelley is a fantastic play-by-play call, in his own right. Give Sean & Lee a listen, if you haven’t already.

I realize officiating is difficult, but if you can’t get those two calls right, especially in a season where there’s anew emphasis on eliminating that very play with its unnatural shooting motion……..

I just don’t get it - we all saw it - maybe once ok, but twice? Same guy? There’s gotta be some oversight - it’s basically referee malpractice

Bs. If Chuck cannot be impartial then he is not a good official. He’s a joke.

Well today, a flop was call on Wendal Johnson of Auburn at Tennessee in Knoxville. Consistent refs in the SEC should be employed. not these jokers!

Just watched him flop again and the ref, standing right there, called a foul on Auburn and gave UcheaT a 4 point possession. A CLEAR flop!
