Pringle chose South Carolina. He’s from there so I expected that. Rushing was once considered a Florida lean but now his brother (walk-on) has transferred out so I don’t see him coming here.
Geography wins out in recruiting much of the time. Effort expended recruiting kids outside the SE not often rewarded. Even when win battles, kids often transfer nearer home later in process when not a starter
When an elite prospect show interest early on, you don’t hold back. No idea if the brother’s transfer means anything. Even players who were pushed out by this staff are saying positive things.
I heard an LSU analyst get asked “why is Kelly having so much portal success” and he said “he’s got something to sell. Decent year but more importantly… easily recognizable NFL superstars from LSU- burrow, Jefferson, chase” It’s gotta be SUPER hard for CBN to sell us right now. It’s not a system that catches your eye or seems exciting ala Kiffen or Reilly, we aren’t spending the most money ala Miami, we don’t have recent success ala FSU or sling it all over like Tennessee or have recognized NFL stars like LSU…
Somehow our prior Defensive players are doing pretty good though. Maybe not superstars like the offensive players you mentioned but still balling out
In my opinion, Kelly can’t “sell” transfers or recruits on Burrow or Chase or any NFL superstar from LsU- because he didn’t coach any of them, recruit or develop any of them and Kelly’s systems are not something any NFL lsu player has ever played in. Every star DB in the NFL who played at lsu was coached by…,our DB coach, Corey Raymond. Tenn and FSU have beat us a grand total of 1 in a row. And had one good season in a row. Mullen had 3 New Years six bowls and it didn’t help him recruit. I do agree that Napiers scheme is not all that exciting so a harder sell for some positions. But…he and Sale have put more O linemen into the NFL than both FSU and Tenn over the past 3 years. Every scenario for every coaches recruiting chops - success and failures…is different.
