Deju Vu was/is an important work of art to me. Got me through a lot of teenage angst (Almost cut my hair). Saw CSN at St Augustine amphitheater in 2014 (good seats huh). Lots of white hair up there along with the great music.
One year when I was in college on the mid to late 1970s, CSN played in Jacksonville on the same night as Gator Growl. A buddy and I went over. Wonderful show. I saw CSNY too in Sunrise at some point.
I wanted to grow my hair long and be a hippy. But my hair just got bushy and my parents would not let us wear bell bottoms. So, while all the kids at school were dressing like hippies and listening to Gary Puckett, u was dressed preppy Or what we call grunge now listening to FM progressive radio.
. Tom Petty was an extension of these folk rock bands. But with a southern flair. The influence was unmistakable. One of the great things about the Traveling Wilburys was the eclectic talents that merged together.
This would be a good time to have one of the "sad" or "crying" ratings I mentioned the other day, @solari - thanks!
If I remember the story correctly, David Crosby, Graham Nash and Steven Stills met at a party. They sang together at the party and decided to form a group. Their first performance as a band was at Woodstock in front of 500,000 people. Graham Nash said they were all absolutely terrified before they went on stage. But the audience liked what they heard when they started singing and they felt better after hearing the applause.
