we had a starting QB who was not going to risk his pro career to win here at Florida. You can’t blame him.

some future stars don’t care. They go all out no matter what. Some feel that if they play half speed it increases their chance of injury.

AR has not been fortunate in avoiding injuries. He has already had surgery. I am sure the word in the SEC was hit him a couple times hard or tackle him forcefully and he will revert to a passing and handing off QB.

Tebow would always set the tone that no matter who else came to play today for Florida, I did!! AR DOES MOT HAVE THAT MENTALITY! He wants to get paid and as I said, I don’t blame him.

I agree. Foley really messed up with 3 of his 4 his selections, although in hindsight, at least Zook recruited a couple of excellent classes.

He also had a lot of bad luck, the worst of which was following the legendary SOS, a thankless task at best. Think about it. Zook's winning percentage at Florida was .622. Since 2010, a 12 year period, Florida's winning percentage is .619. Those 8-5 seasons look nearly respectable in retrospect.

True, if Zook had any head coaching experience before the Florida job, he may have succeeded.

Next year is going to be a struggle too with a new quarterback. We are quite a ways away from contending for anything meaningful. Get ready for another similar record. We may win a few more but don’t expect too much.

We need to wait and see what the roster looks like after spring practice before we have delusions of grandeur or wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Florida did not go 6-7 beating Utah and losing to Vandy because they were always bad, they were inconsistent. Top end 2022 Florida was good (beat Utah, smacked S.C.), low end Florida (Vandy, USF) was terrible. Looking at the roster turn over, I think CBN wants to see more consistency in 2023, but knows he a younger team will have a lower ceiling. By 2024, those consistently good players from 2023 have raised the ceiling and playing really well with consistency.

UF in 2023 can beat Utah even with Fred and Ethel's grandson or Miller Time at QB. That game can be won with better defense and a run game (if we get some OL portal potty loads). The rest of the games are who knows.

AR had the physical tools to be a great QB and showed signs of it vs Lsu 2021 and in a few other games. He also looked liked Skyler Morninglorystar at QB. Remember what he did vs fsu, a wide open swing pass to M Johnson out of the backfield and he threw it at his feet. Sure TD. There were too many others to name.

Right now, I'd say we'd go 10-2 with any of these QBs in 2022 or 2023: Kerwin Bell (no wheels and all), Jacoby Brissett, Jeff Driskel, Kyle Trask (obviously), Jimmy Fisher, Don Gaffney, Wayne Peace, Kay Stephenson, Tommy Shannon, John Reaves, Jackie Eckdahl, and....drum roll..........Terry LeCount.

late august/early sept utah is a dry heat and imo easier to deal with than being super humid. so there's that.

Their tight end (sorry if others mentioned) Brant Kuithe is coming back also, he ate us up for 9 catches for 105 and TD.

Stoops didn’t have any head coaching experience when he went to Oklahoma and won the national championship his second season.

I watched UCLA beat the snot out of them in the middle of the season. Was at the game. Wasn’t nearly as close as it looked.

Utah usually takes a few games to hit their stride. They are built on a bunch of 3* players who have been in the system, learning and improving, playing key roles. But still nothing beats game experience, and it often takes 3 or 4 games before Utah is hitting on all cylinders. But once they do, they are very hard to beat.

As for SLC, it gets plenty hot, but not humid. It's also at 4,000 feet plus above sea level. Altitude may play a factor, especially if the game is a late, local start. A 8:00pm local start would mean 10:00pm Florida, so if the game is close late, Florida will have players trying to perform around midnight body time, at 4,000 feet higher than usual. Last year, SDSU at Utah week 3 had a 8:00 PM local start.
