I believe if that was the case, you’d have to take the golden age back to the early 80s. But the Great Recession of ‘08-‘09 is hardly golden age material.

You've only been here a brief time, but for our right-wingers here at the time, there was an amazing economic recovery that occurred at noon eastern time on January 20, 2017. The economy went from being really terrible to really great in a matter of minutes.

That's my point ... and the recovery from 2009-2021 is also hardly a recession material.

That was so disheartening when we were pulling out of a near depression, where UE was going in the right direction, Republicans spun a message it was all fake. I was very happy for Obama to win a second term just so he could be in office for the recovery that followed. Notably, the crisis was handled well by both Bush and Obama working together for a hand-off. Where are those Republicans today?

Truth is regardless of who’s in office, we’re well overdue for a recession. Median home prices nationwide are about 75% higher than they were at the peak of the housing market before the massive crash in ‘07-‘10.

The guy with the orange complexion who ran for the presidency in 2016 and was actually elected even after losing the popular vote by 2.9 million. And if it's not clear to what I was referring you can always click on the link below although you will probably dismiss the article completely out of hand even though it's based almost entirely Trump's own words.
19 times Trump called jobs numbers ‘fake’ before they made him look good

I’m afraid we’re in for a rough ride. I have nothing to gain and possibly much to lose if true.

The establishment survey is inflated and not real. The household survey is closer to the truth.

There is a big discrepancy between the “establishment” and “household” surveys conducted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). “Since March, the two surveys have seen a massive and unprecedented divergence of 2.7 million people,” said Antoni. “One reason is double counting in the establishment survey, with over 900k of the jobs added in the last year being double counting, not additional people employed.”

The household survey is much jumpier because it is much smaller than the establishment survey. And the divergence is not unprecedented, as people have been talking about divergences happening between the surveys since the 90s.

For example, here is an article by an academic economist discussing one such divergence from 2018.

The Divergence between the Household Survey and the Establishment Survey Widens

Don’t any of you ever forget that Trump saved tens of millions of lives at the beginning of the pandemic by not allowing a few planes to fly directly from China to the U. S. They needed to stop somewhere before they got here.

Yeah, they utilize the same methodology that they have always used. But you would prefer a different story. Shocked!

I do route sales. And the great majority of my customers say they have job openings they can’t fill. One customer told me he scheduled 15 interviews, in November, and only three showed.

I think this forum is kind of tame. Look at the press. Look at the Talking Heads on TV..

I watched a lot of the daily Trump press conferences when covid was hitting the fan.

The majority of reporters' questions was not about the actual pandemic but about how it would affect his reelection..

I voted for Trump based on my pocketbook, but I can say I am very glad he lost.

Had he won, the press would still be calling for workers to stay home and wreck the economy. That was the only thing they cared or talked about when he was in office.

Thankfully he lost, and even though covid deaths are continuing to rise, the press and talking heads aren't focused on shutting the country down into starvation for political reasons.

I don't care enough about who is president to see the US turn into a third world country. I'll take it. Go Joe.
