I dont understand what's wrong with going bowling at 6-6. Not every team has the "playoffs or the post season is shit" attitude. There is alot of teams that are excited to play in a bowl game. Those games pitting 6-6 teams against each other can be good also. Plus it gives the young guys an opportunity to play and show out.

I tend to doubt that culture is a thing that can be implemented by one individual (it's corporate BS). But what can be done is that like minded people can be brought together and that group of folks through their actions can make a change. (but that takes time) I look at the guys that followed BN to UF. IF BN can continue to ID players like them and develop them, then you'll see a new culture develop as a result. I am optimistic.

I don't think players "owe" fans a debt that can only be repaid by putting their financial futures at risk in the Pulan Weedeater Bucee Beaver bowl. And it's not on BN to brow beat them into doing it either. It's the players choice and if a player chooses not to play, it gives some reps and PT to younger players looking to put good things on tape.

If the whole team half-arses it, then that says something. But I think that's not going to happen (again)

I don’t think they “owe” the fans. I do think they “owe” the university that gave them a full-ride scholarship for the fall semester to play every game. And I do think only the head coach should have the authority to grant exceptions to that on a case-by-case basis.

    I don’t think anyone was arrested ;)!

In all seriousness, giving back to the community is a big priority for Napes and for his players to get involved in the community. It helps build character to serve others. Love it.

It’s been awhile, but weren’t those opt outs essentially done with the program? How many opted out and came back to be with the team the next year?

I know everyone wants to hate on Mullen, and I get it, but there's a lot of revisionist history re the 2020 bowl game.
I'm a math guy so I look at numbers and dates.

About not using the allotted practices- just some facts...
Our last regular season game that year was 12/19/20- the SECCG.
As a note that was our 8th game in a row, with no byes and no Eastern Washingtons on the schedule.

    Our bowl game was 12/30.
So we only had 10 days between the SECCG and the bowl.
Even if we had practiced all 10 days between those 2 games we would not have used the 15 practices.

I think the team was also mentally worn down after the 8 games in a row, as well as all the covid testing they had to do.
In hindsight they should have turned down the bowl, as many teams did, but obviously did not.

To the OP- I agree CBN is building the culture and this is a great thing.

Finally- yes I'm looking to see us give great effort in the bowl as a sign of CBN's culture building.
I'll be disappointed in him if we don't.

It means nothing. 2020 UGA had a 7-2 regular season but missed out on the SECCG and the CFB playoffs. They got invited to the Peach Bowl. 9 players opted out, including high draft picks Ben Cleveland and Eric Stokes. They still won the Peach Bowl and then, of course, won the NC in 2021 and are #1 right now.
