Well..then perhaps we are misinterpreting each other..never said I was thrilled..but over the top negativity does not change anything And yes it takes time to mold a team that came from other teams and are just into their 7th game together...I think many thought there would be instantaneous change...
You are not wrong. Baseball has been mediocre the last 4 years never even getting out of a regional, Football is 6-6 and lost to Vandy and Kentucky, Basketball is 4-3 and has a home loss to FAU and hasn't even played a ranked team yet. This is crap and as fans we should call it out and let the powers that be (I am looking at you SCOTT STRICKLIN) know that we aren't going to put up with it.
I don't do that. I have a wife with health issues I take care of and 6 grandchildren to keep up with-I get more exercise than you do. LOL.
We have different definitions of over the top negativity, lol. Time needed to have the team jell, of course. Time needed to get the team to compete with effort, specifically on the defensive end, should not be needed. The effort and intensity should be there every game, from game 1 on, even with a new coach.
Ok..glad you see I am not thrilled with losing or have low standards...cause my standards are pretty high...but I refuse to constantly look at everything as half empty, Coach has to make do with the players he has, just like our football coach..you go with the hand dealt you....Go Gators!
I am not accepting taking time to gel. Missouri has 10 transfers and are 7-0. They have a first time coach too. Has our AD ever hired a winner?
That's a symptom of the root cause though. I don't know if CC is worried that bulking up will hurt his game but he is getting into foul trouble because teams have learned they can bully him. Just my opinion
Yeah I’m worried about the lack of toughness, that doesn’t take years to build. Too early to tell if we are in yet another massive talent deficiency (or lacking talent development) or have scheme and chemistry issues. Will Richard is solid, Lofton is fine, Kugel will be really good. Reeves??? A total mystery. I trust that Castleton will get his sh!* together.
Well, THAT was sobering. It feels like this team, until further notice, is offense first and defense inconsistent. I think the vast majority of the defensive problems is meshing all the pieces. What I also saw on both identities was that UWV was WAY more athletic than us. Their middle was stout and agile and CC can not play against that kind of player. As a result, he sped up and got into foul trouble. JJ is a stopgap and that is all. Give him too much time and he will collect fouls. It is what it is. The obvious void here is a lack of tall and stout bodies. I am now concerned (baffled?) as to why a UWV can collect enough grunts (and better) but a UF can not. It has to be from a philosophy where speed is more important than size. I thought Felder had about as good of a game as I have seen from him and, besides some blocks, was not effective against them. Just not enough athleticism. Fudge is not getting major college basketball yet. He and Kugel HAVE to get more mature in their games for this team to do well. Otherwise, we are a fun team to watch offensively and it may have enough offense to overcome the defense (until the defense begins to get it) but we are on the outside looking in as far as tourney-caliber is concerned.
Unless he gets mad after getting hit hard and starts fighting to score and rebound, he gets bullied like last night. The refs in all three games didn’t call fouls hardly at all when the hackers beat down our bigs when trying to score. I know we were from the east coast but wow, Xavier and West Virginia got away with it all night both of these games. We were in a smaller gym last night and the guys weren’t inspired and wanted to leave the Northwest and get home. I know we still do not know this team yet, and Alex, Our new big should have had a chance to get in and bang with their physical bigs, I don’t have a read on CTG with him not playing him and playing a passive guard that can’t shoot. Kowacie should be put in the power forward slot to at least give us someone who can score and would give him inside playing time that could help his game. I knew it was going to be a roller coaster getting this team to come together. Well, we definitely went off track light night in the second half. I guess our football and basketball teams with new coaches and tough schedules are having any weaknesses exposed. tough times! Hopefully our fans will warmly welcome the team back next game in the Dome. We are behind you! Go Gators!
Unless my math is wrong, CTG's 4 wins is more than his 3 losses. So he currently has a winning record.
