Christian Trump event left evangelical pastor 'absolutely terrified and horrified'
In an interview with the Toronto Globe and Mail, Pastor Caleb Campbell revealed that he decided to make wooing Christians away from the MAGA movement his personal cause after he attended a Christian event hosted by Turning Point USA, the right-wing activist group founded by Charlie Kirk.
During the event he attended, says Campbell, Kirk misappropriated quotes from the Bible in order to make it sound like God wanted Christians to be armed to the teeth with firearms.
"I was absolutely terrified and horrified," Campbell tells the Globe and Mail.

Jesus and the 2nd Amendment don't jive. But that's not a conversation Republicans want to have.

Nor do Jesus and capitalism. But that’s another conversation.

First reply of the thread and people wonder why every thread here turns into a shitshow. When you lead off with “we’re holier than thou”, it’s going to go badly.

Feel free to tell me how you think Jesus would feel about the 2nd amendment. I dare you.

I'd be happy to have that conversation let's start with 2A since that's what this thread is about. Start a thread about abortion afterwards

I am not going to take the bait and watch you deride hundreds of thousands to Gator alum and fans. I don’t owe you any explanations. I am free to believe how I see fit and am not doing anything unconscionable by exercising my 2nd Amendment rights. I do not need to apologize to people such as yourself who are so unhappy in life they have to come to THFSG to start fights with fellow Gators and attack their faith. My advice to you would be to get some fresh air and find some happiness. If you have to come here to tear down others, you can’t be that happy. People have different beliefs. Once you come to grips with the fact different values and beliefs do not mean people are evil, you will be a much happier person.

I'm "absolutely terrified and horrified" that you guys actually believe you know how Jesus would feel about today's politics.

Thank you. Then you should agree that people should stop misquoting scripture for power and political gain

As a practicing Christian, imo what trump and his following are doing to the church is harmful. following the likes of trump and inject maga politics into church, score political points or especially to use religion as a cudgel. Those outside the church see this. This makes it difficult to attract anyone maybe considering attending to see what the whole church thing is about.
When we are mean Christians, it isn’t the best way to encourage potential attendees.

In their quest for power they've pushed many away from church and made it unattractive to potential future members

That's one way to avoid the question. Good for you. I'd wager that I own more guns, spend more time outside, and have more "happiness" than you. I also think if you can't refrain from personal attacks Too Hot probably isn't the place for you.

I didn't question your faith or call you evil. You're just avoiding the question by personally attacking me. Par.

I agree with you but there are many many trump supporters who absolutely consider themselves and others like them to be real Christians.

Please tell us what scripture tells us about what Jesus said about the right to bear arms to defend oneself.
