So our other two first round picks have been coasting too? Dexter and Torrence?

 

If hes smart, he’ll leave. Too much to risk coming back. With his measurables, some fool team is going to give him guaranteed money. It only takes one.

 

NFL or La Tech. No room for him here. He’s had 3 years, it’s time for him to move on

 

Accuracy is not a coaching problem and he definitely has some issues there. I think one more year could benefit him significantly but it probably won’t happen.

there is long list of players that emerged their 2nd season starting. Burrow and Hooker are two of the more extreme examples - no one saw their epic seasons coming.

First thing (and I don't think this won't happen), Napier will say to him, "we will have an open competition at QB in the spring." And that obviously means Napier is prepared to move on. The question is, what will AR do? As I see it, he is a nice guy who enjoys playing loose. Napier, while not a QB savant (or at least not doing things on offense that makes QBs look WAY better than they are), expects certain concepts to be run. For whatever reason, AR has this manic on-off switch in his brain and I would say that it mainly stays in the "off" position. IMO, his "aversion" to running isn't aversion, just that how it is supposed to manifest (except for QB run calls) isn't working most of the time. I know the outward appearance is body language, but it seems to me he isn't all that excited to take games over because he IS The Man. Not everyone is an Alpha.

The difference between his play and Travis's in the second half was quite telling. Travis willed his team to a victory. AR was trying to do well with a LOT of fits and starts. The math does not seem to work in his head at the moment.

If it was up to me, I would have set him down in at least the Missouri and UGa games. He HAS to realize his mental funks can not hold the team hostage. And if Kitna was not good enough, he would have been put back in, hopefully pissed and determined and not "broken". And if he were even more timid or trying WAY too hard, it would have just meant his mental makeup wasn't mature enough for major college football. And the tea leaves would be quite easy to read.

So, I expect he will either go into the draft and I don't expect his name to be called before the 4th round (if ever), or he will relocate to an offense that is more "Savant-esque". Arkansas isn't the worse idea. Otherwise, game on and may the best alpha leader with QB skills win.

I just can't fathom this. Just because that is the poop on the street, it does not mean it WILL manifest. His film is telling.

And doubly, there are too many others (and current) who looked so good athletically and crapped out. Maybe in another year or two amnesia will kick in, but I don't see it this draft.

He was replying to the other poster who said AR was coasting because the team was 6-5 and the pros were calling…..thus he was inquiring whether or not Dexter and Torrence were coasting.

He may have potential, but if I'm an NFL team then I'm not wasting a draft pick on him.

 

I hope he comes back to give Rashada time to develop and take over the reins. AR isn't NFL ready anyway. Think about it; we were a lowly 6-6 in the regular season with Emory as the primary starter. The fans cried for AR all season. Got what they wanted. We improved our record from 6-6 with a victory over fsu to 6-6 this year with a loss to fsu. AR is not ready; he is a sophomore with essentially one year of serious playing time. It will be a huge mistake for him to leave when he can stay and get paid a million bucks a year to develop, become a leader, and increase his initial paycheck in the NFL.

 

To me more hype than substance. He has most of the characteristics most would want in a qb, height, size, arm strength, speed, in other words he looks the part. But bottom line he is just not a consistent passer. It's not that he hasn't had enough experience, he's been here 3 years. I suspect he has practiced all those years plus special attention over the summer. His inconsistencies remained from start to finish. A 55% completion rate or lower isn't going to make UF competitive with bigger schools.
Now as a runner. Many times he seems reluctant to run. Secondly, he seems injury prone. And lastly, he is fast but not quick. FSU's qb was quick and elusive, AR has to get to 2nd or 3rd gear. So, on occasion he will make a long run but his lack of consistency doesn't compensate for when he does run now and then.

I'll go back to the DM Franks situation, he stuck with Franks even though a much better qb was on the bench. It really took a Franks injury for Trask to take over and then Franks knew he was not the best qb. Now this is pure speculation on my part, but BN hears all the hype on AR, potential first rounder, spectacular plays, yada yada, so sticking with AR is easier than rolling the dice and relegating AR to second string should he stay. I'm not sure BN wants to deal with the optics. It's scared money.

Now, I like AR, I don't think he is a leader but he is a good kid and I believe he plays hard for the team. I honestly believe he is getting bad advice regarding going pro. I think to be drafted high if he is, puts enormous pressure on him for someone is taking a chance on his potential and lots of pressure to produce. I would hope if he was drafted it would be in the middle rounds, relieving some pressure and allowing him time to either improve as a qb or move to a different position because of his size. In hindsight, it might have been better had TT been drafted in the later rounds.

I think he stays after the type of game he had vs fsu. But if he is not playing in the bowl game then we all know. If he leaves I'm sure BN is relieved especially if we are able to get a quality qb through the portal. However, Kitna may be that guy if given the chance. Miller is like Waldo, where is he?
