He would have had issues where ever Florida played with him on the squad. However, he apologizes, and gets picked up by another team, most will forgive and forget.
A shibboleth is any custom or tradition, usually a choice of phrasing or even a single word, that distinguishes one group of people from another. It is a Hebrew word. In the Bible the word was used as a password, a means to determine who was part of one group of people and who was not by differences in pronounciation. It still has that sense of divisively identifying someone or assigning them a determined place on the social scale. _________________________________________ Emotions are strong and go deep into this cursed word. It is taboo. It's a shibboleth - a linguistic password, an offensive identifier, dividing, discriminating, degrading, perhaps even destroying some of those who dare speak it, even in ignorant innocence. A bastardized Spanish term, spoken only in derision and insult, the sting of the word remained even as those formerly shackled began to seize and live the "Dream" imagined by Martin Luther King. Now divested of some of its power, spoken by Blacks to other Blacks in deliberate assertive usage, the word is a verbal thumbnose, mocking, signaling its power to hurt the oppressed is diminished, relegated to the dustbin. When it comes to knowing why it appears to be acceptable to speak or sing it in Hip Hop and Rap music, I know little, only what I have read or personally observed on rare occasion when it appeared acceptable among a group of young black men who were jovially shoving each other, laughing while calling each other the formerly cursed word. Their freedom of expression to use it punctured the taboo of its power, mocking the word's former possessors and successors, now under the wide scope of shame for having generated decades of racist bigotry and abuse. Other Blacks are not in agreement, recognizing still the word's long held power of insult. Along with many others across the human array of colors, they want it to never be spoken or written again. Then there are the ignorant, perhaps disingenuous, like Stokes, who find themselves under opprobrium from those who have experienced or recognize the lingering sting of insult from the word's ugly hurtful lash. For some there is resentment that their self assigned entitled right to speak the word -their racist shibboleth - has been taken from them, its right of utterance and power appropriated and now in the hands of the former targets of their insulting derision. Some are angry, possibly dangerous people, their anger fueling the volatile fires of their resentment. For different reasons the word is intentionally hurtful to people across the spectrum of human color. For healing to begin the word needs disappear from our common lexicon, silenced, shelved forever in history books and accounts of the time to be written and hopefully read.
I agree with most of this, but you must share with me how to get paid while arguing with our local unhinged leftists and a couple who cliam to be Republicans
I believe they are either the beneficiary of the DNC or a left-wing think tank. Take note of their super high post counts. Then notice their replies are usually 5 to 6 times longer on average than the typical reply from the few GOP leaning posters here. Then note that they often reply very quickly with a laundry list of links that just happen to be readily at their disposal on said topic. You don’t see this in the replies from the unsuspecting GOP posters. Note they harp on the same issues over and over (they have certain issues they want to focus on). Notably when they start a new thread by pulling some random story out of the news about some guy somewhere we’ve never heard of and then immediately turn said story/thread into a damning indictment of the GOP. Nobody sits around in their own free time to pull random stories from the news just to flesh out the same grievances with the GOP they’ve already fleshed out here a 1,000 times before. I’m not saying they are all paid operatives, but paid for propaganda being pushed on social media is a thing. If the Russians can afford to do it in our elections, you know the two parties here can afford it and do it too. Speaking specifically to this forum, I see the markers much more in the left-leaning posts than I do the right. My favorite is when they use left-wing journalism (which is definitely bought and paid for by the DNC) links to back up their claims. Sometimes 5 or 6 links at the ready within a matter of 2 or 3 minutes. It’s too coordinated just to be another Gator grad/fan here to talk about Gator sports.
Interestingly, you are commenting on people having "high post counts" when you likely have more posts per day since joining than any of the people you are accusing (heck, you accused me of that and you have over 10% of my posts over 12 years in 2 months, meaning you are posting at approximately 7.2x the speed that I have). So your evidence is that left-leaning people know how to Google and provide factual evidence to back their arguments, whereas you struggle with it, apparently.
I used to poke a few libbie regulars in here by asking how much were they being paid by Obama? It sure smells like it.
High post counts can be deceiving. There once was a thread years ago in the pub titled "The Post Whore Thread" Folks would just hit a letter then post over and over just to build up their post count.
That’s funny. Bling is definitely one of those libbie bots. Guess getting called out made him squirm. I love it.
It's been that way since all of the Machiavellian type cons left in protest over a moderator appointment. They were the flip side of the lefties who have taken over since.
I don't think spending one's finite time on a message board like this would be a good use of political resources in terms of moving the needle given that posters are already highly political relative to the general public and mostly have their minds made up. There's a lot more low-hanging fruit elsewhere on the internet IMO.
The prevailing leftism in here is protected by the owners of the site. It helps prevent anything being left in here that would negatively impact player recruitment.
So it seems the moral of the story is that there are those that think black people will never achieve equality and those on the opposite side that are more hopeful that they will. If you haven't watched this skit from Chappelle Show, it's pretty funny (and true). The Best Of “I Know Black People” – Chappelle’s Show - YouTube
