It’s crazy to think that while FSU is most likely the better team if we could have just sacked Travis those two times we had three defenders draped all over him 10 yards into the backfield, we would have won.

I understand where you are coming from but I think the biggest issue with this team is that they just don’t play complementary football. I can’t remember the last time I saw a team/program so inept at handling momentum. If the defense steps up the offense goes three and out. If the offense scores a TD the defense gives up an even faster TD. We get momentum in the media or on the trail (ie Utah or USCe) we lose to UK or Vandy. It’s unbelievable how consistently inconsistent this team was this year.

The 3rd down Johnny Wilson catch was tougher on the previous drive.

I don’t want to dog our pass catchers but people keep bringing up ARs stats in the third. There were a ton of drops. Including a TD

I didn’t feel like the tackling was that bad. The bigger problem was the couple times we just left the short middle of the field completely open and they could just get 20-30 yards without trying.

Talent level probably equal. They have more experience and made enough plays to win.

And that’s fine. I don’t want to pile on a player. But you’d certainly have to give AR a pass then? Douglas had 3-4 drops right? What is AR supposed to do?

Or not let him spin out of the backfield for a first down half a dozen times. I mean, give Travis credit, he is a slippery dude with some good cuts. But we lack the speed on the edges and there’s nothing the coaches can do about that this year

Was glad to see AR play like AR last night. I was just disappointed we didn’t see this AR in Nashville and questioned whether he was overthinking or making a business decision to protect himself last week.

AR played well enough to win, but he is still very raw. Is roughness is only one part of many aspects of the game that we need help that and talent is most of it. I watched a Defense last night that had their shit together way better than they did at the beginning of the year. They know what their job is a little better but they’re just lacking in talent

I dont doubt trying to take the ball away is a practiced skill, and I'm sure we do practice it, along with putting an emphasis on ball security. However, the nature of turnovers throughout an entire season has been shown to be luck from one year to the next. It's called turnover regression, you see it all the time in the NFL, a team that should not be a playoff team, is a huge plus in turnover margin. The very next year they regress back to the mean, and they are below 500 in the win loss column.

Maybe "luck" is not the right word, but you can't force an opposing QB to throw you 2-3 interceptions. Just like your own team can't control tipped passes, or throws that bounce off a wideouts hands and to a defender.

As an example, would anyone in their right mind say that pass against vsndy, I think it was to Bowman, that the defender caught, was a play that's practiced and therefore not luck? Same could be said for the Marshall muffed punt, the kicker didnt put a special spin on it, we made the error, an unforced error by Vandy. That us what I mean by luck.

I give the credit to Travis. I haven’t seen many, if any, QB’s slip out of that many, including in the NFL.

This is something that puzzles me. More than one poster claims Coach Napier is a poor play-caller and then recognizes Florida was 9/27 passing . . . or, in this case, vice-versa. Some of those were passes that hit receivers in the hands. Others could have been caught. Often for big plays. If Coach Napier runs a lot some gripe he didn't pass and when he gives those what they've been clamoring for and passes they gripe because he didn't run!

For weeks, I've thought Coach is calling a game with, effectively, one hand tied behind his back for one reason or another.

He also realizes, better than any of us, the personnel on defense aren't sufficient to take over a game and has to strike when he can. Edges have not been set and other teams have taken advantage of that week-after-week. Surely the coaches aren't sitting around playing video games and letting that slide. In the end, it's the athlete who has to make the play.

If AR was hot last night, Florida would have won that game! However, he's a college kid and a first year starter. I'm also not so sure we can lay blame at his feet. He ran. He hit receivers in the hands. He also threw some poor balls. Again, he's a college kid. None of us like to lose . . . especially to the clown college.

I agree with the momentum, is it real, or isn't it. I have always thought games gave momentum swings. It's what made Spurrier great, the old saying, smells blood in the water. He would feel it and he would pour coal to it. This team had opportunities last night, first drive after the half sticks out and you tie the game, only to kick it straight out of bounds. That's not coaching, that's player execution.

Some crazy stats from last night:

    AR started 5/7 3 TD
    Then went 4/20 1 INT

We had Travis bottled up and hit a few times.
The one where he scrambled on 3rd and long down to the 1, 3 guys hit him and we didn't tackle him!

It would def help to have a Callaway. I like shorter, but one guy that could take any catch to the house would be nice. It makes the defense, respect and think just a little more.

At least for me my gripe with CBN is clock, RZ, and 2/4 min offense.

His play calling has gotten much better the last half of the year between the 20s
