Go back to the beginning of this topic. No need for me to restate it now.

The biggest problem with this sort of mentality is that there seems to be no punishment too harsh for people who so much as repeats the N-Word in the lyrics of a song.

If no feelings are unjustified, wouldn't that mean no societal retribution is unjustified?

Fair points. I mean, yeah, if we're being honest, his upside had as much to do with this decision as what he did. So from that standpoint, I get it.

Yes Eminem used the word in it's art form. Thank you for finally making my point.

To be honest, that's not even exactly cancel culture, the more I think about it.

A better case can be made that it is if you were boycotting the entire NFL over one player, but if you just were irritated with Kaepernick so you turned the TV off, that's just rejecting a product you don't like.

It's like conservatives who used to like Jimmy Kimmel, just stopped watching Jimmy Kimmel when he got all preachy and repeatedly suggested that he hates conservatives. Turning off the TV because the person you're watching is talking about how much they hate you is not "cancel culture." That's just having some self-respect.

It would be like if CNN received new ownership and the new talking heads were Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, and Tomi Lahren, so liberals stopped watching, and conservatives called that "cancel culture."

That's not what you said. You were wrong. A simple "thank you Coop, I wasn't aware" will suffice.

#1 rule in sports is anything can be forgiven if you’re talented enough… well, except maybe kneeling for the anthem, killing Nicole Brown. and being a left handed non-typical talented QB beast.

You see what the problem is with correcting one statement to someone like you. You just proved to me that you can't accept when you are wrong. By the way thank you Coop for proving that to me.

I have been trying to clean up this thread yet people are getting out hand with their language without context of the matter. First and foremost former President Trump did not call Kapernick by name with his comment, inappropriate as it was. It was aimed at all NFL players who took a knee during the national anthem. So stop with the name calling otherwise people will get banned from the thread. To disregard the context and state Kapernick was singled out is over the top.

Donald Trump blasts NFL anthem protesters: 'Get that son of a bitch off the field'

Why would I want to use that word? What kind of dumbass argument is this? You don't know me from Adam and you're trying to say that my argument is that I want to say the word whenever I want to yet I'm on here trying to convince strangers otherwise? Yeah right.... seriously some of you project the dumbest things onto people for your own self pleasure. Get a clue.

The argument isn't about saying the word anyway. Not to mention you quoted me talking about one specific group, heterosexual white men and yet your argument revolved only on black people and saying "that word". Seriously, this is probably the dumbest argument against what I said on this topic yet, by far.

He didn't have to call him by name. When Trump said "Get that son of a bitch off the field" it was pretty obvious who he was referring to. If me pointing out this obvious fact gets me banned from this thread, then oh well.

Colin and Tim are not employed in the NFL because they aren't good enough to be long time starters and have too much baggage to be worth a backup spot. Not to mention Tim needs a team built around him to be really successful.

Nobody should say the N-Word, period.

People hear stories like this, and they extrapolate certain narratives regarding the country.

To people who find themselves in the middle, I ask, which is more likely:
    1. Our institution-controlling elites are part of some White Supremacist Patriarchy, who unfairly apply rules to Black people and words like the N-Word, even in the context of repeating song lyrics from popular American wealthy Black artists only further efforts to hold them down?
    or
    2. Our institution-controlling elites are incredibly sensitive to racial issues (ex. Washington Post, New York Times, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, Hollywood, Google, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, university administrations) and therefore, overcompensate when a White person does something that may be deemed culturally insensitive; which leads to a situation where White people are consciously punished more than Black people for racially insensitive offenses because White people are consciously expected to play by a different set of rules from Black people?

People talk about subconscious bias against minorities as this huge prevailing problem. There is current overt and conscious bias against White people where one side of the political aisle and the majority of powerful institutions claim as justified (affirmative action, White privilege lectures, double-standards regarding racial slurs), yet we aren't supposed to talk about that.

Nobody is saying that this is okay, or should be normal (to my knowledge), but in criminal contexts we talk about the "punishment matching the crime." We are seeing more discussion in liberal academic circles of even compensating for subconscious bias in our criminal justice system. I see no reason why we shouldn't expect the "punishment to match the crime" in social and cultural contexts as well, nor do I see any reason we shouldn't reasonably strive for fair standards.

Yes he called out Kapernick because he started it. It was not about Black or White it was about disrespecting the flag. Why can't you seem to get that. You get a narrative in your head and no amount of fact finding ever convinces you of that.....You are wrong again.

Obviously you didn't read the article or comprehend my clarification. Maybe this will help you as quoted from the article.

“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out! He’s fired. He’s fired!’” the president said at a rally for Republican senator Luther Strange, who is running in a special election next week to remain in the seat vacated by attorney general Jeff Sessions.

“You know, some owner is going to do that. He’s going to say, ‘That guy that disrespects our flag, he’s fired.’ And that owner, they don’t know it [but] they’ll be the most popular person in this country.”

Trump went on to attribute the NFL’s dip in TV ratings to rule changes implemented over the last few years to make the game less violent and limit head injuries.

It's not that far from the truth though. Add Ray Rice to that list.

I honestly think Colin can be a great long term backup, probably moreso than Tebow. It's just unfortunate for both of them.

And you have evidence that it was corrupt, of course. Too bad you didn't share it with the courts. They couldn't find any. We all know what your "evidence" is that the election was corrupt. It's "Donald Trump said so!"
