Very well said. Johnnies and Joes won’t fix so many things we are seeing right now. Great chance to redeem this Friday night. Lose that one and a pretty historic year with losing to all rivals, Vandy, and an ugly conference record.

Basically what Kirby did until he learned how to be a game day coach.

In his presser did CBN take responsibility like SOS would have and Saban?

You don’t want to watch imo. He should’ve apologized to the fans that drove up there (Spurrier did this a few times) and then made some definitive statement with some measurable s behind it. He said he didn’t have the team ready because he needs to “lead better”. When did “lead” in this context become a verb?
What made me nauseous was his statements about “I saw a lot of opportunities to get better today!” Like losing to Vandy is really a blessing. He did not seemed pissed off or embarrassed for UF.
No reporters I heard asked about clock management, the absence of a two minute drill, the lack of urgency on O until the 4th quarter when we had no choice but to go for it or the failure to run outside.
We need a QB coach (not one with zero qualifications) BAD and an OC pronto or imo we will remain losers in the SEC.

Saban may be the greatest coach in the last 40 years. As far as the greatest of all time let's not forget Bear Bryant or Bud Wilkison and his 47 game winning streak at Oklahoma. My point in comparing Napier with Saban wasn't that Napier may be another Saban it was that drawing a conclusion regarding Napier's competence based the sample of less than a full season is really jumping the gun. If I recall after Bama's loss to Louisiana-Monroe some Bama fans had suggested that Saban lost it also citing his brief record with the Dolphins.

The game was not "meaningless" and acting like you know things that you certainly do not is... not helpful. But you are entitled to your opinion and entitled to post your view of how you wish the world is. If you think we lost to Vandy because we took them lightly and were prepping for fsu then that has meaning... means we were not focused and prepared by our staff. Now if we lose to fsu your theory falls on its face.

To me, it's whether or not he's smart enough and willing to get the hell out of the way and hire a real OC, a gifted teacher and razor sharp play caller. I knew he was out of his league when he tried to wear too many hats. And as an aside, we scored enough to win, but as usual, our D let them score more.

Muschamp was the last coach to get us a top 5 class, and it was unbalanced, heavy on defense, little offense.

Our last balanced top 5 class was Meyer's last one in 2010.

We have recruited with the also rans in the SEC for the better part of a decade and a half. This is why we are where we are.

He also went 8-5 and won a bowl game.

If we were to finish 8-5 with a bowl win that would mean a win over Vanderbilt yesterday, a win over FSU Friday and and a bowl win, a 5 game win streak to finish the season. I'd agree that would have been a good sign of improvement.

We instead have a loss to vandy, a likely loss to FSU, and who knows about the bowl game. Very different scenario even if you look more than skin deep

Not necessarily, if the new coaches offense is different then the previous one then sometimes it takes a minute for some coaches to mold their offense around the personell they already have while they recruit the talent that better fits the scheme they want to run.

While this is traditionally true to an extent, this year's Vandy team is a bit better than the usual 2-10 Vandy teams we face. They beat Kentucky last game, so it's not like they were horrible.

We weren't looking ahead. They simply came to the game better prepared and outplayed us. They were the better team on the field.

And while it was unpopular to say this, I think our win against the Aggies were due as much to their decimated lineup as it was to our "adjustments." But people see what they want to see, and Gator fans love to see us right on the cusp of being an elite program...

Yes but what does any of that mean in CFB when you have Vandy beating UK last week and us this week, while UK holds Georgia to 16 points and USCe blows out top 5 Tenn hanging 63 points on them a week after we dominated USCe. And I'm feeling like Vandy will beat Tenn next week. What does any of it mean? College football is nuts..... on to ESD and the future.:D

I would be disappointed if the theory that the staff decided to have AD throw the ball all day to prove something to NFLscouts is true.

That would really suck. If true what about UF and Gator Nation?

Some perspective on the record, he went 4-5 over the last 9 regular season games. Also on top of losing to vandy, and ole miss , he lost to UGA's rivals. Tenn, UF and Georgia tech . But amazing still started the next season ranked very high. Let's hope we have similar success

Holy crap dude, you tried way too hard with this to end up being so off the mark. UGA in that game had almost 400 passing yards, and "the best 1-2 punch in all of football" had 68 yards at less than 2.5 per carry. Yesterday we had 400 passing yards with 66 rushing yards (from our primary runners) with about the same YPC. Vandy was gifted 7 points on a muffed punt and another 7 after a fluke interception. Georgia didn't dominant squat either. They didn't get their first lead until the end of the third quarter, and they only held the lead for a total of 10 minutes.

The only differences between the games is that our offense scored more points and our run defense is worse, which should surprise exactly nobody based on the last 3 years.
